The Champagne region, known for its sparkling wines, boasts illustrious houses such as Krug, Dom Pérignon, and Moët & Chandon, as well as grower-producers like Pierre Péters and Jacques Selosse. These vineyards create exceptional sparkling wines using the traditional method, offering a symphony of delicate bubbles, elegant flavors, and vibrant acidity.
In the Rhône Valley, iconic vineyards like Chapoutier, E. Guigal, and Château de Beaucastel produce remarkable red wines in the northern appellations of Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Cornas, showcasing the elegance and power of Syrah. Further south, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is celebrated for its rich and full-bodied red blends, with Château Rayas and Clos des Papes leading the way.
In Alsace, vineyards such as Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and omaine Trimbach craft exquisite white wines, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris, expressing the region's unique terroir and varietal character.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)The 2022 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru is fully de-stemmed for the first time. This leans more towards red fruit on the nose, though maybe because of the lack of stems, it doesn't quite have the personality or freshness as the Tuvilains. The palate is well-balanced with lively red fruit and good depth, and the 35% new oak neatly integrated with fine depth on the finish. I feel it will improve with time in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (92)The 2017 Beaune Village really over-performs this year, bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice, orange rind, grilled ceps and peonies. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent and enveloping, with fine depth and concentration, powdery structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. Combining substance with structural charm, this will offer a broad drinking window. As ever, this cuvée is a blend of premiers crus Boucherottes and Epenottes with the lieux-dits Prevolles and Beaux Fougets, so the raw materials are unusually serious for a communal bottling. |

Charming and refined, this will nevertheless merit more patience than the irresistible 2017. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2019 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru I includes 50% whole bunch and 30% new oak. Vinous (91-93)The 2019 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru I includes 50% whole bunch and 30% new oak. Pascal Marchand said that this is an example of "infusion" winemaking, not seeing many punchdowns during cuvaison. The bouquet is very perfumed; cracked black pepper and tertiary aromas slightly occlude the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, leading to an elegant, peppery finish. Very much a lighter style from Tawse. I am not sure it has long-term potential but that is a moot point as it is so delicious. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru contains 25% whole bunch with 20% new oak. There was a bit of reduction on the nose here, but the palate is lively and expressive with candied red berry fruit, orange zest and fine mineralité. This should turn into a very delicious Beaune but it will need time. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru comes across a little subdued on the nose but it opens in the glass, with red fruit, touches of black pepper, becoming quite floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine weight, lively red fruit with a touch of spice on the finish. Very fine. |
