It shows the ripe, concentrated, powerful style of the vintage yet is incredibly pure and seamless, with everything in the right places. Mathieu Cuvelier marks 20 years of the Cuvelier family at Clos Fourtet with this vintage, and it's a wonderful attestation to the potential of limestone plateau location for coping with a changing climate in Bordeaux. The 2022 Clos L'Eglise, 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It features straight-laced, classic scents of warm black plums, blueberry preserves, and cedar chest, leading to suggestions of iron ore, Sichuan pepper, and fertile loam.
