Vinous (92+)

(purchased fruit from vines on the Puligny side of the cru near the Chassagne border): Wet stone and menthol dominate the nose. Chewy and vinous but tighter at present and less harmonious than the Grandes Ruchottes. In a powerful style but not thick or heavy. The echoing finish is salty and dry. This will need time in bottle.

Vinous (89-91)

(from three parcels of vines, in Les Fremières, Aux Echanges and Les Maladières, ranging in age from 6 to 95 years): Good medium red. Fresh aroma of wild raspberry complicated by exotic notes of peach and lees. Juicy and fresh on the palate, and tighter than the village Morey; less opulent but more gripping. Still a bit youthfully clenched on the back end but I find the notes of vineyard peach and blood orange fascinating.

Good full red. A raspberry aroma is complicated by wild notes of game and smoky lees. At once dense and juicy, showing excellent creamy depth for village wine. Really spreads out on the back end to saturate the entire palate. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and serious structure. The 2013 Chablis Valmur bristles with energy and pure class. Here the flavors are vibrant and focused to the core, with plenty of the typical Moreau depth, but also more than enough underlying acidity and minerality to provide balance. The aromatics are just a touch reduced at this stage, but that is not surprising considering I tasted the wine from tank. The 2013 was vinified in equal parts oak and stainless steel, while the aging is taking place entirely in tank.

Mint, chamomile, honey, hazelnuts and dried fruits jump from the glass in the 2013 Chablis Vaudésir. Underlying veins of acidity give the Vaudésir its energy, tension and pure drive. The 2013 Clos de Tart Grand Cru was picked from October 8. I prefer the bouquet to that of the more confit-like 2014; this is very fresh and vivacious, offering black cherries mixed with blueberry and light violet aromas, the mineral component more expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit on the entry, tinged with graphite. Shows good weight but tightens up toward the back end, suggesting that it may close down. Quite saline on the finish. Give it 7–8 years in bottle. Tasted at Clos de Tart.

Wine Advocate (90)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a dense, earthy bouquet that feels broodier than its peers at the moment, although there seems to be good fruit in situ. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, more foursquare and conservative than others this year, though with decent depth and an understated, quite elegant earthy finish. Not quite matching its performance from barrel, nevertheless, a respectable Clos de Vougeot to enjoy over the next 10 years. Tasted September 2016.

Distinguished for its abundant sophistication, the Chateau Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2013 is finely crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown in Château de Pommard's private vineyard in Burgundy, France. This exceptional vineyard benefits from a uniquely rich, clay-limestone soil which bestows a complex and sumptuous quality upon the wine.

Produced through the practiced hands of Emmanuel Sala, Pommard's Chief Winemaker, this indulgent wine is aged 20 months in French oak barrels, intimately developing this red's rich, velvety tannins. When poured, one can appreciate its ravishing ruby hue and become entranced by its beguiling bouquet composed of black cherry, floral notes and a touch of earthy spice.

One sip of Chateau Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2013 will reveal a wonderfully layered palate of dark fruits, sweet spices, and a hint of truffle. Consummate craftsmanship combined with exceptional terroir makes this a sterling addition to any fine wine collection.

Vinous (92)

(13.2% natural alcohol): Bright medium yellow. Reticent aromas of underripe pineapple, white nectarine, crushed herbs and white pepper. Very ripe, supple and fine-grained, with the fruit and spice flavors conveying an impression of finesse. The 2013 grand crus were bottled this January, except for the Blanchots, which was bottled in September of '14 owing to the small size of the cuvée.

Vinous (92-94)

This is one of the more reticent wines at Moreau this year, but it also offers plenty of promise. In 2013, the Vaudésir was fermented entirely in tank.

Vinous (95)

Once again, 2013 was a difficult vintage for the winemakers of Burgundy, but those who were patient and meticulous produced wines of excellent quality. The spring was cold and wet which led to late and uneven flowering. Conditions worsened with a hailstorm in late July which hit areas of Savigny, Beaune, Volnay and Meursault in particular, but a warm and dry August helped fruit to ripen at a critical time. The best of the white wines are truly exceptional in 2013 due to their refreshing acidity which perfectly balanced the impressive purity of of fruit. While the reds were overall less acclaimed than the whites, they showed elegance and sheer drinkability due to their freshness and depth of fruit.
