Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94-96)The 2022 Le Prieuré is another magnificent wine from one of Saint-Émilion’s most under the radar properties. Dark blue/purplish fruit, gravel, spice, menthol and lavender are all finely delineated. As always, Le Prieuré is a wine of cool sophistication and finesse. Clean mineral notes extend the finish effortlessly. Superb. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (95)A luxurious feel, with velvety tannins, enjoyable ripe black fruits, gourmet touches of smoked vanilla root and liqourice, all well drawn out through the palate, and providing plenty of estate signature. A well balanced luscious wien with a saline limestone twist. 3.55ph, 100% new oak. 28hl/h yield, smaller than across the rest of the Ausone range because of 50 year old vines planted almost entirely by Alain Vauthier when he arrived 1970. Harvest September 19 to 26. |

The Wine Independent (97-99+)The 2022 Pavie is a blend of 52% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon with a pH of 3.67. Yields were 31 hl/ha. Deep garnet-purple in color, it erupts from the glass with powerful notes of juicy blackberries, black currant pastilles, and wild blueberries, followed by classic hints of violets, licorice, red loam, wood smoke, and crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate delivers fantastic tension between the intense, muscular black fruit flavors and a lively backbone, framed by beautifully ripe, rounded tannins, finishing long and fragrant. Superb. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96)The second wine of this terrific château is the 2022 Aromes De Pavie, an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (the same blend as the 2020). It might be the greatest second wine in the vintage, displaying a classic Pavie style in its ripe red and black fruits as well as notes of camphor, chocolate, violets, and graphite. Rich and powerful, with medium to full-bodied richness, it's going to be ideal for drinking on release and over the following 15-20 years. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (98)Creamy depths of colour and flavour, powerful damson and black cherry fruits, this is utterly compelling and beautifully concentrated. No question that the tannins are crowding in through the front of the palate, eager to make an impression, but they quickly soften and widen, and in between is air, spice, flowers, just nuanced and beautiful. The power of limestone in hot vintages on display. 3.4ph, great stuff from this 14.5ha estate, Nicolas Thienpont director. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-94)The 2022 Quinault L’Enclos is wonderfully polished, but what impresses most is the wine’s balance. In most vintages, the components are evident for a young Quinault, but the 2022 inspires with a seamlessness I don’t recall seeing in the past. Perhaps that is a reflection of a blend that was done early, prior to the malolactic fermentation. Dark blue/purplish fruit, grilled herbs, lavender, spice and graphite are some of the many notes that come alive in the glass. The 2022 is a gorgeous wine and potentially one of the sleepers of this vintage. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96+)A château that deserves more recognition in the market today, the 2022 Château Ripeau comes from 16 hectares of vines located in the northern part of Saint-Emilion. The blend is 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified with a touch of stems and carbonic maceration, with the élevage in new barrels. Incredibly pure notes of red and blue fruits, spring flowers, violets, and forest floor give way to a medium to full-bodied, silky, seamless Saint-Emilion with ultra-fine tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. The tannins here are first-rate, and this ripe, sexy, incredibly impressive 2022 could be a real superstar of a wine. Tasted multiple times. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (93)Intense muscular contraction to the tannins on the opening beats, the fruit gets creamy as it opens, with vivid raspberry reflections and plenty of mouthwating salinity. This is a pretty serious Saintayme, great quality and great value. Olivier Gautrat alongside NoŽmie Durantou. Harvest September 17 to October 3 (extremely late for the vintage, because cool clays in a cooler part of St Etienne de Lisse, something you also see in the generous 50hl/h yields), 30% new oak. |
