If anything, the 2015 comes across as a bit compact. A spine of tannins give the wine its energy, expressive red stone fruit, pomegranate, red cherry and floral notes that start to emerge with time. Charles van Canneyt’s 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru is supple, silky and absolutely delicious. Sweet red cherry, plum, lavender and mint are beautifully layered in a creamy, expressive Gevrey 1er Cru that hits all the right notes.
