Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru comes from 0.5811 hectares of vine (why not be accurate?) split over two plots on either side of the single-track road that traverses the vineyard. It has a delicate, floral bouquet of more of the pressed rose petal aromas one finds on the Vosne-Romanée Chaumes, though here a touch more orange pith and chalk emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins and fine acidity. A refined Suchots that eschews the opulent nature of this vineyard, aiming for something sleeker and more understated. There is a pleasant touch of black pepper right on the finish. Fine. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée La Croix Rameau 1er Cru has quite a different bouquet than Lamarche’s other crus, offering deep red currant and cranberry fruit, and more savory, with light garrigue-like aromas. The well-balanced palate shows good grip on the entry. Very well balanced, with tart red fruit laced with crushed limestone toward the finish. Not the most powerful Premier Cru you will find in Vosne, yet very stylish. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-92)Pleasing mid crimson. There is less immediate fruit evident on the nose. Less ripe, stricter, firmer, some citrus notes, middleweight, as ever I don’t quite see the magic at least while this wine is young. More in acidity than tannin to finish. Tasted: December 2021 |

Vinous (89-91)The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru comes from just over half a hectare of vine split over two parcels. It has a pretty bouquet of perfumed red berry fruit laced with pressed rose petals and light sous-bois scents. The palate commences with a fleshy opening, then offers pure red fruit laced with a pinch of spice. Gentle and caressing in the mouth, with a nicely delineated finish. The headline here is just "drinkability," and it will only require a couple of years in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts from Domaine François Lamarche has a refined and detailed bouquet: fresh strawberry, cranberry leaf and minerals, all very attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, just a dab of oak to be fully subsumed, but with plenty of weight and volume on the pretty, quite spicy finish. It's just a delicious, well-crafted Vosne-Romanée and one of the best from the domaine in 2012. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts is completely de-stemmed and raised in 100% new oak. Now this has a great bouquet: very well defined with intense black cherry and kirsch aromas, deftly controlled and focused. The medium-bodied palate displays dense tannin, and the new oak is quite vocal at the moment but should be subsumed with bottle age. Do I think less new oak would have been preferable? Yes. But I still think this should mature into a fine Les Beaux Monts. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, matured in 80% new oak, has a very detailed, focused bouquet of blackberry, briar, raspberry jam and light orange peel aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly tarry opening, a smear of dark chocolate combining nicely with the dark berry fruit, but it is unapologetically backward and surly on the finish compared with the Echézeaux or the Vosne Les Chaumes, so give it some serious cellaring. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru offers red plum, dark chocolate and light orange blossom scents on the nose, maybe just missing a little definition compared to other cuvées at the moment. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a distinctly marine-driven bouquet with shucked oyster shells permeating the black cherry and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, poise and mineralité in abundance. Maxime Chuerlin rates this above his Echézeaux. I am not going to argue. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru offers red plum, dark chocolate and light orange blossom scents on the nose, maybe just missing a little definition compared to other cuvées at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, touches of graphite and black pepper, cohesive but missing just a touch of complexity on the finish. Give it a four or five years in bottle. |
