Orchard fruit, apricot and gentle spice notes all come together in an open-knit Pessac-Léognan white that will drink well upon release. Lightly tropical notes and a kiss of French oak add closing nuance. As always, the Pape Clément Blanc is one of the most flamboyant whites - maybe the most flamboyant white - in Bordeaux, and yet all the elements fall into place effortlessly. Tasted three times. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90)The 2014 Pauillac de Château Latour is a refined and polished wine that expresses the gracious, mid-weight style of the year nicely. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, earthiness and wild cherries add aromatic dimension. The 2014 is just starting to enter the early plateau of its optimal drinking window. I would prefer to drink it over the next 7-10 years. In 2014, the Pauillac is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96)The 2014 Pavie is silky, powerful and intense, with all of its elements in the right place. In 2014, Pavie is exceptionally polished, with plenty of richness but less of the bombastic style of some years past. Part of that is, of course, the personality of the vintage, but at the same time, there has been a move toward a bit more finesse here in recent years. A rush of raspberry jam, pomegranate, mint and white flowers leads into the vivid, richly textured finish. The 2014 is a gorgeous Pavie loaded with personality. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96)The 2014 Pavie-Macquin is superb. Deep, powerful and creamy, the 2014 possesses tremendous richness from start to finish. Today, the 2014 appears to be going through a period of transition, as the aromatics are not especially open, but a few more years in bottle should do the trick. I have always admired the 2014's balance, as I do once again today. The 2014 is a real dark horse and one of the real gems in this vertical. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96)Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and slate are some of the many notes that are woven throughout the 2014 Pavillon Blanc. The interplay of bright, citrus-driven flavors and palate texture is compelling. This is the first vintage in which a portion of the Blanc was aged in 500-liter barrels, a format that helps preserve freshness and tension. In early 2015, I thought the Pavillon Blanc could be the most compelling of Margaux's 2014s. I still feel the same way. |
