The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru has a terroir-driven, minerally bouquet with crushed stone filtering through the orchard fruit and subtle hazelnut and litchi scents developing in the glass. The palate is well-balanced, perhaps just a little conservative/timid at the moment, precise yet bashful. Hints of rose water and peach skin towards the finish. One of the prettiest cuvées from Fontaine-Gagnard this year.

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Morgeot 1er Cru is certainly more flattering on the nose than the Clos Saint-Jean at the moment, with ebullient red berry and blueberry fruit, well-defined and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There’s plenty of fleshy red fruit with cracked black pepper and allspice towards the finish. Maybe the Domaine's strongest red this vintage. Very fine.

Vinous (88)

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is matured in 20% new oak. It has a generous bouquet with orchard fruit, touches of almond and patisserie. It will require a couple of years to absorb the oak. The palate is well-balanced, with a fine bead of acidity countering the richness, though it needs to muster a little more complexity on the finish.

Matured in 20% new oak, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge has quite an intense bouquet with dark cherries, blueberry and light violet scents. The palate is well-balanced with a powdery texture, moderate weight, and a little graphite towards the tender but lengthy finish. Give it just a year in bottle.

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comprises two barrels, one new and one a year old. It has quite a backward nose, more tertiary in style, quite flinty, in fact. Blind, I would not guess this to be from this vineyard at all. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe black cherry and boysenberry fruit, fine mineralité and backbone. This is much more open, fanning out with style towards the finish that has just the right amount of edge. It's very fine but will require bottle age to unlock the aromatics.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-91)

Includes one third of young vines from Chassagne Caillerets. Pale colour with green tints. The bouquet is all in white fruit, a little softer than the trio of St-Aubins. There is good body behind this, filling the palate with white fruit, and going through to a graceful finish. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted: October 2023.

Cask sample. Oak shows a little more here in the aroma than on most of the Boisset whites. Mealy and spiced and a touch of vanilla. Really creamy and rounded, so generous and caressing but balanced by great freshness. Embryonically delicious with a long, piercing finish.

Cask sample. Deep-fruited and spicy, citrus and herbs. Finely creamy texture, deep, long and fresh with a slight sour note at the very end that seems to clash a little with the creamy, fruit-sweet aftertaste.

Mid cherry red. Seductive, sweet-floral, perfumed. Open and expressive. Then deeper and more savoury on the palate. Super-fine tannins with lots of layers so that overall they are slightly chewy. Multilayerd, deeply fruited and very long. A harmonious beauty.

Mid cherry red. Highly perfumed, impression of violets. That perfume leads you to a firmly but finely structured wine – the really elegant tannins are the main quality of the palate at the moment. A refined, pure and elegant beauty.

The 2022 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens is excellent, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, orange zest and petals. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, its textural attack segues into an unctuous core of fruit, concluding with a long, expansive finish.

A glowing pale lime colour. Some restrained floral notes, but not demonstrative. On the palate there is a strong line of chalky white fruit, with a discreet intensity, but clearly adequately ripe. Picked between 2nd and 5th September. A very pretty clean lemon and lime. The oak is very well integrated into the classy nose. Plenty of energy but also light on its feet for Morgeot without betraying the appellation, and the fruit persists particularly well on the palate. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: November 2023.

The 2022 vintage benefited from an exceptionally meticulous hand-harvesting and judicious sorting, following an optimal ripening period, contributing to the wine's profundity and elegance. The delicately extracted juice was matured in oak barrels, enhancing its complex character.

Kei Shiogai Pommard 2022 arrests one's senses with its distinguished bouquet of ripe red fruits, complemented by subtle earthy undertones, and a lingering mineral edge. On the palate, it unravels a symphony of flavours, balanced by firm yet refined tannins. A fine wine such as this promises to age gracefully, making it a treasured addition to any connoisseur's cellar.

Vinous - Neal Martin (95-97)

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is well-defined on the nose, with a mélange of red and blueberry fruit, crushed violet and light iris flower scents. This is going to be very seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and layers of mineral-rich red fruit counterbalanced by a perfectly judged line of acidity. It discretely fans out on the finish and feels tender despite the power here.

Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Abbaye de Morgeot 1er Cru has a more airy and floral bouquet than the Embazées, leaning slightly towards Puligny in style. The palate doesn't quite match the promise set by the nose – it is quite weighty and concentrated with an overtly spicy finish. I was expecting more precision here, and I might prefer the previous vintage.

A blend of Abbaye de Morgeot and Francemont. Medium deep yellow. The nose is a little biscuity and a little backward. Then there is surprising weight, largely yellow plum fruit, very good fruit/acid integration, and fair length. This wine does indeed show the power of the Morgeot terroir. Drink from 2030-2038. A glowing crimson purple, the bouquet comes over with striking class. Quite floral in fact, plenty of sunshine in the fruit but here in Pommard the vine resists better and the tannins are very refined. A delicious aftertaste. The vineyard was only replanted in 2016, so congratulations. It is now in pinot fin and that shows. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: October 2023.
