James Suckling (97-98)The black berry, dark chocolate and crushed stone character is really pretty. Full-bodied and solid with fine tannins that spread across the palate. Silky and soft at the end. Very long and fine. Wait and see. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97-100)The 2022 Château Petrus showed brilliantly and is clearly in the top handful of wines in the vintage. The usual 100% Merlot and harvested between the 1st and 7th of September, it checks in as 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.63. Deep purple-hued, with a tight yet layered nose of darker cherries, cassis, spring flowers, violets, and perfectly integrated oak, it's full-bodied and has the vintage's pure, concentrated, powerful style, gorgeous tannins, and that classic, salty, mouthwatering finish of this château. It opens up beautifully with time in the glass, and given its purity and tannin quality, it's going to offer some up-front appeal yet have 50 years of longevity. I suspect it will take 10-12 years to hit the early stages of its prime drink window. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-94)The 2022 Quinault L’Enclos is wonderfully polished, but what impresses most is the wine’s balance. In most vintages, the components are evident for a young Quinault, but the 2022 inspires with a seamlessness I don’t recall seeing in the past. Perhaps that is a reflection of a blend that was done early, prior to the malolactic fermentation. Dark blue/purplish fruit, grilled herbs, lavender, spice and graphite are some of the many notes that come alive in the glass. The 2022 is a gorgeous wine and potentially one of the sleepers of this vintage. |

James Suckling (96-97)Black berry and lead pencil on the nose with fresh flowers. Some rose stems, too. Full-bodied with racy and fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Complex and intense in flavor, it remains full of energy and verve. 58.5% merlot and 41.5% cabernet franc. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96+)A château that deserves more recognition in the market today, the 2022 Château Ripeau comes from 16 hectares of vines located in the northern part of Saint-Emilion. The blend is 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified with a touch of stems and carbonic maceration, with the élevage in new barrels. Incredibly pure notes of red and blue fruits, spring flowers, violets, and forest floor give way to a medium to full-bodied, silky, seamless Saint-Emilion with ultra-fine tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. The tannins here are first-rate, and this ripe, sexy, incredibly impressive 2022 could be a real superstar of a wine. Tasted multiple times. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (93)Intense muscular contraction to the tannins on the opening beats, the fruit gets creamy as it opens, with vivid raspberry reflections and plenty of mouthwating salinity. This is a pretty serious Saintayme, great quality and great value. Olivier Gautrat alongside NoŽmie Durantou. Harvest September 17 to October 3 (extremely late for the vintage, because cool clays in a cooler part of St Etienne de Lisse, something you also see in the generous 50hl/h yields), 30% new oak. |

SG$345.00 |

Jeb Dunnuck (93-95)The deep purple-hued (it's almost blue) 2022 Château Soutard is going to be up there with the top vintages from this château, which has a great terroir just outside the village of Saint-Emilion. Candied violets, chocolate, crushed stone, and blue fruits define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a great mid-palate, ripe yet present tannins, and a terrific sense of freshness that keeps this interesting and light on its feet. It's going to evolve gracefully. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-97)Another brilliant wine from Marie Lefévère, the 2022 Château Soutard-Cadet comes from a 2.7-hectare vineyard on the upper plateau (near Soutard) and is 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Still resting in 75% new oak, this medium to full-bodied, pure, concentrated Saint-Emilion has lots of both red and blue fruits (black raspberries, cassis), notes of crushed stone, violets, and spicy wood, ripe tannins, and terrific mid-palate depth. As with all Marie's wines in 2022, I love its purity as well as its balance. |

Jeb Dunnuck (96-98)Coming from an incredible hillside terroir on the eastern side of Saint-Emilion, the 2022 Château Tertre Roteboeuf reveals a dense purple hue to go with a kaleidoscopic array of cassis, blueberries, cherries, acacia flowers, violets, and orange blossom. Always exotic, singular, and overflowing with character, the 2022 looks to be no exception and is full-bodied, with a layered, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. |

Decanter (98-100)A supremely excellent Troplong in 2022 that has the hallmarks of a concentrated vintage but delivered with ultimate poise and precision. A joy to taste and once again one of my favourites. Sharp, sleek, sour, bright and cool - I love the instant freshness and drinkability of this, tannins are fresh and detailed with both a plush and cool texture underpinned by layers of flavour with depth and concentration. Clearly muscular but pixelated - it’s not tense, lean or austere but generous, charming and playful. Supple and succulent, still with ripe strawberry, cherry and raspberry fruit, a mix of bright red and black berries with wet stone, liquorice, dark chocolate and graphite giving the terroir. Silky, balanced acidity and overall so well controlled and presented. 3.5pH. Ageing 50% new oak, reduced by 5% plus 21% in 20hl foudre, 24% one wine barrels. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97-99)Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château Valandraud is based on 88% Merlot and the balance an even split of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has incredible purity in its cassis and darker, almost blue fruits as well as notes of candied violets, licorice, and spicy oak. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, it has perfect tannins, a great mid-palate, and flawless balance. It reminds me of hypothetical blend of the 2010 and 2009, with perhaps plenty of similarities to the 2020 as well. |
