Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90-93)Deep red-ruby. Explosive, rather wild aromas of raspberry, smoke and earth. Lush, sweet and thick; voluptuous for this cuvee but with terrific sap. Really resounds on the back end, which features broad tannins and an impressively rich flavor of crushed raspberry. A superb showing. |

Vinous (91+)(50% vendange entier): Good deep red. Ripe aromas of small wild red fruits, mocha and brown spices, plus a note of menthol; deeper-pitched than the Haut-Doix. Then big, ripe and rich but fine-grained, with savory red fruit flavors complicated by spices and torrefaction. Finishes youthful, broad and long. Nicolas Groffier noted that his family used to vinify Sentiers for power, like our Amoureuses, but that he has cut back on extraction. Still, this is a strong wine in 2012. |

Tim Atkin MW (94)These vines sit in deeply clay soils, which graciously help shield the vines from heat spells. Nicolas Groffier used 100% whole bunches (the berries are so small he doesn't want to damage the fruit) but only 20% new oak. The result is a finely scented Chambolle with pure black cherries, blackberry coulis and licorice. The medium-bodied structure is focused rather primly between the resounding acidic refreshment and sculpted tannins. 2025-35 |

Vinous (90+)Healthy dark red. Aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, licorice, rock and game are slightly wild in an enticing way. At once rich and juicy in the mouth, with firm acidity giving the black fruit flavors a penetrating quality for the vintage.
