About Lamy-Caillat
Lamy-Caillat is a micro-domaine founded in 2011 by husband and wife team Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy with just 1.2 hectares of vines. Sébastien used to manage Florence’s family domaine Lamy-Pillot, and the couple got their chance to run their own show when an elderly neighbour offered to lease them 1.2 hectares of vines. Armed with their ethos of “minimalist and essential”, Sébastien and Florence went on to produce what are now some of the most sought-after bottles of white Burgundy that have won unbelievably praise from renowned critics.

A civil engineer by training, Sébastien is meticulous in his approach and leaves nothing to chance, taking as long as he needs to derive the best results from his vines. William Kelley reports that Lamy-Caillat is all about artisanal winemaking, where wines spend two winters on the lees before bottling by hand after natural clarification. Vinous (95)The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru has an intriguing, complex bouquet of orange zest, honeysuckle and powdered granite aromas – just outstanding in every way. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity that cuts through intense citrus fruit laced with walnut and hazelnut. There is great depth on the finish, but you can tell that it has a lot more to give. Wonderful salinity on the aftertaste. Outstanding. |
