Hailing from the esteemed land of Neive, Piedmont, the Piero Busso Barbaresco San Stunet 2020 exemplifies the fine craftsmanship of renowned viticulturist Piero Busso. Busso's dedication to biodynamic farming refracts beautifully through the soulful Nebbiolo grapes ensconced in this magisterial vintage. The vigour of the Nebbiolo vines, aged 30-35 years, basks elegantly through the bespoke oak-aging process that imparts a luscious texture and profound complexity to this wine. Distinguished by its seductive ruby hue, this Barbaresco entices the palate with layered notes of ripe cherries, spices and delicate floral undertones, culminating in a gracefully rounded finish that resonates in memory. A quintessential embodiment of its terroir, the Piero Busso Barbaresco San Stunet 2020 is a sublime testament to the depth and artistry of Italian winemaking—reflective of the gifted hand behind its creation. |

Vinous (90+)Good bright medium red. Plum, redcurrant, strawberry, mint, spices, earth and dried flowers on the nose, plus a whiff of leather. Tactile and rich, displaying good medicinal reserve to the flavors of red fruits, chocolate and herbs. Shows a slight dryness with air but this is not particularly austere. With its depth of flavor and dusty tannins, this is built to age. |

Vinous (95)The 2017 Barbaresco Il Bricco captures all of the natural intensity of this Treiso site, but in a less forced style than in the recent past, which is a very positive development for this historic house. Readers will find a potent yet well balanced Treiso Barbaresco that hits all the right notes. Macerated cherry, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build into the potent finish. The 2017 is just gorgeous. |

Vinous (94)The 2018 Barbaresco Il Bricco is a worthy follow-up to the stellar 2017. Menthol, licorice, gravel, incense and a range of deeply-pitched spice notes open first, but it is the wine's overall depth that I find especially alluring. Racy and complex, yet so refined, the 2018 has a ton to offer. Best of all, it can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. It's a gorgeous Barbaresco that captures the essence of Treiso. |
