Bellaria Brunello di Montalcino Assunto 2011, a quintessentially Tuscan wine, radiates elegance in every sip. From an illustrious family-owned estate in the heart of Tuscany lies a profound expression of Sangiovese Grosso grapes carefully nurtured and skilfully vinified. The Bellaria estate, operating since 1963, diligently follows traditional winemaking techniques to create this brilliant vintage while maintaining sustainability in every stage of the production process. This wine is aged for four years in French oak barrels, culminating in a harmony of complex aromas and robust flavours, with the extra year of ageing adding a further layer of depth and distinction. Graceful notes of ripe red fruit, spice, and leather define its character. The palate is rich, full-bodied and boasts an impressive tannic structure, yet maintains a delicate finesse. No matter the occasion, Bellaria Brunello di Montalcino Assunto 2011 serves as an excellent choice for those seeking sophistication and refinement in a bottle. |

Wine Enthusiast (94)A few swirls of the glass release delicate, enticing aromas of red berry, rose, iris, tobacco, new leather and star anise on this elegant, almost ethereal wine. The restrained palate sneaks up you, offering tart cherry, crushed strawberry, white pepper and a note of black tea alongside a backbone of firm, refined tannins. Still primary and tight, it needs a few more years to fully open up and develop. Drink 2020–2031. |

Wine Advocate (96)Cerbaiona's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the protagonists of the vintage. There is no denying the sheer beauty and focus of this wine. It makes a fabulous first impact with super sharp tones of wild berry, cola, balsam herb, flint and crushed oyster shell. Those drying mineral notes leave a lasting impression. In the mouth, this wine is super elegant, tight and delicately nuanced. Unfortunately, I have not had the best track record with aged Brunello from Cerbaiona (ten years or more) personally, but I am hopeful that a wine of this caliber and depth will restore my faith. No matter what the aging trajectory ultimately demonstrates, this wine certainly does taste fantastic at this young stage. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is made from a blend of fruit from three different vineyard parcels. The sites total 25 hectares, with 15 located next to the church, or the Pieve, after which this estate is named. The sites have southwest exposures and different soil types. That flexibility explains the smooth and seamless bouquet offered by this wine. Compared to the single vineyard Sugarille expression, Rennina is more open and immediate. The wine presents fleshy and beautifully plump aromas of red cherry, dried blackberry and exotic spice with tobacco and chocolate at the back. |

Wine Advocate (95)A bit closed at first, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille sees fruit harvested from a five-hectare cru site with galestro limestone soils and all-southern exposures. Despite the initial shyness of the bouquet, this wine ultimately shows a more profound and elegant approach in this warm vintage. It just takes a little longer to get there. The nose offers a full spectrum of fruit, floral and earthy tones that speak so highly of this all-Sangiovese appellation. The wine is smooth and rich in terms of density with beautiful firmness at the back. |

Vinous (93+)The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is rich, sensual and inviting. Wonderfully open-knit and polished, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most intriguing wines of the year. High-toned aromatics, with a touch of volatile acidity, give the wine much of its unique personality. Macerated cherries, licorice, hard candy new leather and mint are all pushed forward. Readers should expect a somewhat eccentric Brunello. I have seen Brunellos with elevated volatile acidity develop into spectacular wines with years in bottle, but readers should know what they are getting into. |

Vinous (91)A powerful, authoritative wine, Renieri's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino possesses terrific depth and overall intensity. Sweet red cherries, mint and dried herbs open up first, followed by expressive floral notes that add attractive aromatic overtones as the wine continues to open up. The 2011 is both deep yet also medium in body, with a layered feel that only adds to its considerable appeal. This is a strong showing from Renieri and proprietor Marco Bacci. |

Vinous (92)A powerful, authoritative wine, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino packs a serious punch. A host of savory, feral notes hit the palate first, followed by an array of dried cherry, dried flowers, tobacco, smoke, leather and cedar. This is one of the rare 2011s with tannins that need time to soften, as well as the density to develop nicely with further time in bottle. |

Vinous (89)The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is fleshy and forward, with plenty of sweet red stone fruit, macerated cherry, tobacco, spice and plum fruit. The extracted style and accompanying imposing tannins are a bit much for the wine's mid-weight structure. The 2011 is quite ripe and intense, yet the tannins are not fully mature, which suggests heat stress may have been an issue during the torrid second half of August. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later, as the fruit is likely to fade before the tannins soften. Hints of crushed flowers, sweet tobacco and red flowers add the closing shades of nuance. The 2011 was aged in a combination of tonneau and 30-HL casks. |

Vinous (92)The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere emerges from the estate's oldest vines. Here the balance of fruit and tannin is much more successful. Sensual and layered in the glass, the Lucere offers good up-front richness to match its creamy, inviting personality. Generous black cherry, plum, smoke, spice and menthol flesh out on a resonant finish laced with attractive aromatic overtones. In this vintage, the oak and tannins are very nicely balanced, something that hasn't always been the case here. At times, the ripeness of the vintage is a bit dominant, but this is a gorgeous wine from San Filippo. |

Vinous (90)Sesti's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a rich, resonant wine with plenty of near-term appeal. Sweet tobacco, cherry, iron, dried flowers and mint all meld together in the glass. Soft, silky and ample, the 2011 is already quite delicious, although, like so many Brunellos of the vintage, it is probably best enjoyed on the younger side. |

Vinous (95)The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne is deep, powerful and explosive. The gravitas of the old vines and the blend of fruit that incorporates fruit from the southern end of the zone in equal parts with the north comes through loud and clear. Macerated cherries, smoke, spices, leather, licorice and French oak flesh out in a dense, stylish Brunello that captures the essence of the Pacenti house style. Drink this creamy, voluptuous Brunello over the next decade or so. |
