  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2002 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

The 2002 Brut Grand Cru Millésime is spectacular today, soaring from the glass with a complex bouquet of smoky pear, lemon, mandarin orange and peach mingled with smoke, praline, crushed mint and hints of wet chalk. Full-bodied, layered and seamless, it's deep and strikingly complete, with a textural attack that segues into a concentrated core framed by a vibrant spine of acidity and buttressed by chalky extract. Long and penetrating, this is one of the finest vintages Francis Egly has produced to date.
  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2004 (3x150cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2004 Brut Grand Cru Millésime is precise and delineated in the glass, with plenty of cut and overall verve. Crushed flowers, candied lemon, white flowers, almonds, mint and anise are all finely-knit in this chiseled, crystalline Champagne. A precise, saline finish rounds things out nicely. The mid-weight, linear style is very much in keeping with the personality of the year. Disgorged July 2014.

  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2005 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90)

The 2005 Brut Grand Cru Millésime is soft, forward and quite expressive. There is plenty of freshness in the glass, but the wine's mid-weight personality and overall lack of complexity vis-à-vis the best wines here both make me think it is a wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. The lithe, delicate finish is attractive, if a bit out of character for Egly-Ouriet, where the wines are usually richer. Candied lemon, dried apricot, white flowers and mint are some of the signatures. Disgorged: July 2014.
  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2006 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2006 Millésime Grand Cru is sourced from old vines in Ambonnay. Vinification and aging in oak shape the wine to a considerable degree, but Ambonnay has the natural breadth and shoulders to handle the oak. Brioche, spice, vanillin, dried orchard fruit and herbs all develop nicely in the glass. The 2006 is rich and resonant to the core, yet also impeccable in its overall balance. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 2015.

  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2008 (3x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (100)

Francis Egly and I tasted a bottle trial disgorgement of the 2008 Brut Grand Cru Millésime that saw six grams per liter dosage, and the wine surpassed even my high expectations. Wafting from the glass with scents of crisp orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, praline, warm bread and walnuts, it's full-bodied, deep and multi-dimensional, with an immensely layered, concentrated core that cloaks its racy but ripe spine of acidity, abundant but refined structuring dry extract and an incredibly long, precise and sapid finish. It represents the confluence of a great vigneron at the peak of his powers with a historic vintage, and it's unquestionably the finest 2008 Champagne that I've tasted to date. Egly and I agreed that it might be even better with only five grams per liter dosage, but we'll see what he finally decides when he disgorges the wine later this year. What is clear is that the the 2008 Brut Grand Cru Millésime will be worth any and every effort to seek out once it arrives on the market.

  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2009 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

This bottle of the 2009 Brut Grand Cru Millésime was disgorged in July 2018 after 96 months on the lees, and it's already showing brilliantly, wafting from the glass with complex aromas of smoky red berries, green apple, oyster shell and English walnuts, with a faint hint of fino sherry on the upper register. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and vinous, with searing concentration, a beautifully refined mousse, brisk acids and a long, indeed seemingly endless, finish. This thrilling vintage Champagne exemplifies the intensity and power without the weight that Egly routinely achieves and testifies to his status as one of the region's very best producers.

    Vinous (94)

The 2011 Brut Millésime Grand Cru is a very pretty wine, especially within the context of the year. Bright floral notes meld into hints of lemon confit, tangerine oil, dried flowers, sage and pastry. There is terrific freshness to the 2011, although not quite the dimension of the very best years. Even so, this is very clearly one of the finest 2011s readers will come across. I would not push my luck on aging, but there is so much to like and admire here. Francis Egly and his team clearly got the very best out of the year. Disgorged: July, 2020.

Broad and powerful, Egly's 2012 Brut Grand Cru Millésime is a serious, vinous Champagne somewhat reminiscent of his brilliant 2002. • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2013 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (100)

Francis Egly has produced another profound Champagne with the 2013 Brut Grand Cru Millésime. If the monumental 2008 stands out for its power, structure and intensity, the 2013 is distinguished by its harmony, finesse and completeness; both vintages are very great wines but thus quite different in style. Wafting from the glass with scents of Anjou pear, crisp yellow apple, freshly baked bread, clear honey, iodine and fresh mint, it's full-bodied, ample and pillowy, with a layered, concentrated and effortlessly balanced core of fruit, uniting precision and sensuality to compelling effect. Girdled by racy acids and animated by a delicate pinpoint mousse, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. Is this the most elegant wine Egly has produced to date? It's certainly among the most compelling that this high quality but initially underrated Champagne vintage has delivered.

    Wine Advocate (97)

One of the very finest wines produced in this less heralded vintage is Egly's 2014 Brut Grand Cru Millésime, a strikingly vinous and enveloping Champagne that wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, mirabelle plum, freshly baked bread, almond paste and honeycomb. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, its textural attack segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate of exceptional purity and cut, concluding with a long, penetrating and mouthwateringly saline finish. As ever, it's a blend of some 70% Pinot Noir with 30% Chardonnay from Ambonnay's greatest terroirs.

  • Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Millesime 2015 (3x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97+)

From a sunny vintage in which the harvest—commencing relatively late, on September 20—proved ultimately rewarding, Egly’s 2015 Grand Cru Millésime has turned out remarkably elegant. A classic blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from Ambonnay, it was disgorged in October 2024 with a dosage of one gram per liter—significantly lower than the 2008 edition, when Egly needed to temper the pronounced acidity. The wine bursts from the glass with an evocative bouquet of pear, red plum and fresh bread, mingling with vibrant citrus nuances. On the palate, it is deep, full-bodied and layered, showcasing remarkable concentration and a crystalline core of fruit. A bright spine of acidity and abundant chalky extract provide both structure and sensation of freshness, culminating in a persistent, reverberating finish. While this vintage is occasionally marked by subtle vegetal tones—attributable to incomplete ripening under hydric stress—this cuvée exhibits none of those elements. As Francis Egly notes, “It was all about the harvest date, and we certainly didn’t rush to pick the grapes.” Fine-boned and effortlessly graceful, this small release possesses all the attributes necessary for a long evolution.

  • Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Brut Tradition NV (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (94)

A youthful straw color, aged for four years on the lees before disgorgement, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Brut is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay. It comes from the historical vineyards of the family in Bouzy and Verzenay, as well as those located in Ambonnay. I love this wine, with its notes of wet stones and black raspberries. Based on 2020, it has more focus and tension; the mousse is spritely and energetic, with a nice level of clarity and pithy citrus.

  • Elise Bougy Chetillon de Haut Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger NV (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Elise Bougy’s NV Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Chétillon de Haut (2021 base) hails from a northeast-facing, 0.4-hectare site planted in 1975 that is distinguished by its soft, sponge-like, chalky soil. Comprising the 2021 vintage, aged for 10 months in 600-liter demi-muids, it also includes some 20% reserve wines from 2020 and 2019, matured in oak. Disgorged in December 2023, this Champagne blossoms in the glass with a bouquet of fresh citrus, white flowers and hazelnut, mingling with oyster juice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, pillowy and vinous, with an incisive spine of acidity. Despite being generally more open-knit and expressive than this vineyard can sometimes appear in its youth, it remains more linear than Bougy’s other bottlings. “A classical Le Mesnil is vinified in stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation and with little lees, so my version—with extended élevage on the lees in wood—may feel like a contrast,” Bougy notes. This is a characterful wine, promising a broad drinking window.
  • Elise Bougy Le Mont Chainqueux 1er Cru Les Mesneux NV (2x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Elise Bougy’s NV Les Mesneux Le Mont Chainqueux (2021 base) originates from a southeast-facing, 1.8-hectare vineyard that was co-planted in 1965 with Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, thriving in sandy soils. This cuvée is based on the 2021 vintage, which was matured for 10 months in a 20-hectoliter Stockinger foudre, and incorporates approximately 20% reserve wines from 2020 and 2019, aged in wood. Disgorged in February 2024 without dosage, it unfurls from the glass with a complex bouquet of orange zest, rooibos tea, white pepper and physalis. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and ample yet precise, marked by racy acidity and a delicate phenolic bitterness that asserts itself on the long, tangy finish.
