The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru was more expressive and vibrant on the nose compared to the Griotte Chambertin at this early stage with vivacious blackberry, bergamot, mulberry and violets aromas that come bounding from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple and very fine tannin, a keen line of acidity and a sense of composure and harmony that I found wanting in the Griotte. The 2016 Nuit St Georges Les Murgers des Cras is a blend of 20% Les Murgers, 20% Les Cras and 60% La Richmoine. Bright, dark ruby. Profound, utterly primary scents of crushed blackberry and licorice are a bit youthfully unforthcoming. Then wonderfully sweet and dense in the mouth, with far more complexity than the closed nose would suggest: black fruits, cherry, raspberry, licorice, meat, minerals, spices and underbrush, all lifted by an exhilarating note of orange zest. Wonderfully rich wine without any impression of undue weight. The rising, finely tannic finish hints at an almost chocolatey ripeness. Splendid potential.Inc. GSTSG$10,105.91 -

Don't Miss! An exuberantly spicy nose is comprised primarily of assorted red berries, floral nuances and wisps of earth, the sauvage and sandalwood. There is a cool and restrained mouth feel to the mineral-tinged and attractively pure medium-bodied flavors that are a beguiling combination of power and refinement on the balanced and strikingly persistent finish. The Chapelle is a lovely effort but there is quite simply another dimension of complexity present here. Note that while this is very firmly structured there is so much dry extract present that this should be approachable after only 6 to 8 years if desired though it should amply reward 15 to 20. 2028+Inc. (just one new barrel out of seven): Dark red with ruby tones. Essence-of-Burgundy perfume of raspberry, white pepper, cardamom, Cuban tobacco, coffee and underbrush. Outrageously dense and intense on entry, then brilliantly delineated, penetrating and sweet in the middle palate, with its tangy red berry and earth flavors enlivened by building notes of menthol, rose petal and Oriental spices. The 2017 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is much more reserved on the nose compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, the fruit a little darker. There is something of a crushed-pebble, almost beach-like scent, a distant tang of cockle sheds that surfaces with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and a little more depth and grip than the Charmes-Chambertin, even if it does not quite display the same sensuality and flesh on the finish. Good potential. In BondSG$1,340.00 -

The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet, touches of basalt/crushed rock permeating the red fruit, gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a lilting and silky smooth Chapelle-Chambertin that expands and exerts more grip towards the finish, a touch of white pepper lingering on the aftertaste. Great potential. In BondSG$5,220.00 -

The 2016 Nuit St Georges Les Murgers des Cras is a blend of 20% Les Murgers, 20% Les Cras and 60% La Richmoine. I appreciate the energy of the aromatics here, the scents springing from the glass to offer bright Morello cherry and crushed strawberry scents, the mineralité neatly interwoven. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, nimbler than its peers with fine delineation and poise on the finish. This will be well worth seeking out.In BondSG$977.00 -

(no new oak): Bright, dark red. Deep aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, flowers and minerals. Rich, sweet and pliant; seamless and sappy, combining lovely fat and precision. Quite suave owing to its vinosity. From the northern corner of the appellation. An excellent showing today. In BondSG$1,470.00 -

Splendid potential. In BondSG$9,220.00 -

Note that while this is very firmly structured there is so much dry extract present that this should be approachable after only 6 to 8 years if desired though it should amply reward 15 to 20. 2028+In BondSG$5,425.00 -

This really makes you take notice! Satin texture and very savoury. Grapes have to be fresh. Very exciting, even explosive. Very cool but concentrated. Very long indeed. In BondSG$1,480.00 -

With its uncanny energy and complexity and its unflagging finishing thickness, this noble, electric wine has all the elements for greatness. (And I could drink it today for its perfect balance and digestibility!)In BondSG$7,650.00 -

(Perrot-Minot lost half of the crop here to frost in 2016): Good dark red. Knockout nose combines all the major Clos de Bèze food groups: raspberry, spices, rose petal, leather and stony, smoky silex minerality. Large-scaled, silky and mouthfilling without any undue weight, conveying a higher-pH impression than most of the other '16s here--but Perrot-Minot assured me that it's not above 3.45. Boasts serious thickness of texture leavened by smoky soil tones. Superrich, palate-staining, aristocratic wine with a great future. In BondSG$1,325.00 -

The 2017 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a clean, precise bouquet that is focused and direct, offering red and black fruit, crushed stone and more terroir expression than the Mazoyères. The palate is medium-bodied, the sappy red fruit on the entry laced with marmalade and dried quince, and grippy in the mouth, with a touch of spiciness, although it does not fan out on the finish as I hoped. Hopefully it will fill out with bottle age.In BondSG$2,820.00
