5 Star Wine. Made from two plots, Le Charlemagne and En Charlemagne (1966, 1947), which were picked five days apart. Nine barrels in all. A clear mid lemon yellow. The bouquet shows class with reserve. The ripeness seems perfectly judged. Fresh apples, then a little wash of lemon, then the minerals of Corton-Charlemagne with exceptional persistence. There is such a strong tensile strength. Understated, lingering, classical wine. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted Nov 2024.Inc. GSTSG$5,040.92 -

Colin has elected to produce a 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Cuvée Marguerite, a blend of the lieux-dits En Créot, Les Combes and Perrières that debuted after the 2016 frost. Exhibiting aromas of pear, fresh mint, white flowers and blanched almond, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and incisive, with tangy acids and a chalky finish.Inc. GSTSG$396.30 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
A blend from three vineyards, Perrières, Combes, Créot. Mid lemon not clear, more fruit weight on the nose, into ripe apples here, less citrus, a little tension, matching the opulence of the fruit. Good length again. Tasted: October 2021Inc. GSTSG$475.07 -

There is just one barrel of the 2009 Bâtard-Montrachet, which is a shame, as the wine is marvelous. This is a breathtaking, rich Bâtard endowed with layers of expressive fruit. Minerals and all sorts of crushed rocks frame the intensely pointed, chiseled finish. The Bâtard remains fresh, vibrant and weightless in a kaleidoscopic, dazzling style that only great white Burgundy is capable of delivering.Inc. GSTSG$3,834.42 -

The 2011 Batard-Montrachet boasts serious richness, depth and structure. A wine of pure brawn and intensity, the 2011 impresses for its exceptional balance and harmony, but it is also very reticent and nowhere near ready to show the full breadth of its personality. The finish alone is simply sensational. Readers should give the 2011 at least a few years in bottle to settle down. The Batard is imposing, sensational and regal in every way.Inc. GSTSG$11,759.42
