Clear mid yellow. So much energy here too. An impressively racy quality with plenty of weight, very Charmes in character, strong fruit, and then a crunch of acidity. A little saline touch yet also some of the more exotic side. Drink from 2026-2033. Tasted: October 2022Inc. GSTSG$1,236.50 -

The 2020 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a step up in terms of precision and mineralité compared with the Meursault-Charmes. The palate is vibrant and well-balanced, quite tensile, touches of bitter lemon mixed with ginger and hazelnut, leading to a long and harmonious finish. This is recommended. Closure: DiamInc. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
The Meix Chavaux is blended between 350 and 600 litre barrels. Very attractive lemon and lime colour, with a racy characterful nose, fresh apple, a little lime blossom, fresh energy throughout. I love the graceful yet lifted quality of this wine. It should fill out later on, but is already clearly on the right road. We also tried the same wine, but racked back to barrel to see what a longer elevage will look like. A little more yellow in the colour, while the nose is rounder, showing the wood only in terms of weight not of taste. Fills out the middle in the way I was looking for from the main wine. Either way, Meix Chavaux is a big step up. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted: October 2023.Inc. GSTSG$885.52 -
Delight in the stunning sophistication of Maison Harbour Meursault Blanc 1er Cru Blagny 2019. This exceptional white Burgundy hails from the illustrious Meursault appellation in Côte de Beaune, lovingly crafted by the small but highly esteemed Maison Harbour. A labour of love from husband and wife team, it has been meticulously nurtured in the tradition of minimal intervention. The 2019 vintage was aged in 30% new oak, exuding an enchanting nose of fresh apple, citrus and floral notes with intricate nuances of minerality. On the palate, it is incredibly focused and persistent with a harmonious balance of rich fruit and vibrant acidity. Experience the luxuriant refinement embodied in every sip of Maison Harbour Meursault Blanc 1er Cru Blagny 2019, a true testament to elegant precision and profound complexity.

Vinous (88-90)
The 2019 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru, aged for 12 months in barrel and racked into stainless steel on the lees, comes across a little laconic and backward on the nose with light smoke and beeswax aromas. The palate is better with good weight and concentration on the entry. Touches of dried honey and a little brioche, fresh, if uncomplicated compared to the Volnays. I think this was just a little reduced at the time of my tasting.Inc. GSTSG$1,634.35 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2020 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru was very primal and leesy on the nose, grapefruit, camomile and kiwi fruit scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, pear and gooseberry on the entry, cutting acidity with a straightforward, lightly spiced finish. Maybe just a little conservative, but this is well-crafted.Inc. GSTSG$2,108.50 -

Pale, bright yellow. Restrained aromas of iodine, crushed rock and chestnut. Densely packed but slightly spiky and uncompromisingly dry, offering a bracing combination of lemon and pineapple fruit, firm minerality and lively acidity. Very tightly chiseled in the middle palate but opens out somewhat on the rocky back end, finishing with echoing flavors of lemon and saline minerality. Still, this youthfully unforthcoming wine will require patience.Inc. GSTSG$1,258.30 -

Imbued with finesse and pedigree, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 is a magnificent product of the highly esteemed Bouzereau estate. Located in France's venerable Burgundy region, this wine represents the height of Chardonnay expression. Employing traditional vinification methods, the fermentation takes place in oak barrels which bestows precious complexities and textures to the wine.
Under the direction of Jean-Baptiste, a seventh-generation winemaker, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 shows consistency with its predecessor vintages, admired for their bright fruit notes buoyed by a robust minerality. In the backdrop, the enchanting aromas of honeysuckle and fresh almonds create a harmonious olfactory experience.
A quintessential Meursault, the Michel Bouzereau Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2018 delivers an elegant balance of firm structure and delicate richness. Every sip offers a remarkable depth of flavour, making it a must-addition to any fine wine collection.

Pale bright yellow. Pear, apple and stone on the nose. Juicy and intense on the palate, showing lovely energy and minerality. A major step up in intensity and length from the Charmes, displaying lovely definition and a saline quality. Offers a rather refined texture, with its harmonious acidity well supported by flesh. Finishes with good lingering fruit and stone flavors.Inc. GSTSG$1,342.31 -
Vinous (95)
The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a wine that I never tasted in barrel, though I wish I had! It has a well-defined, slightly creamy nose, hints of praline and salted caramel in the background, and mineralité in the driving seat. The terroir really comes through thanks to the supremely well judged acidity and beautifully managed new oak. A very harmonious and poised finish lingers temptingly in the mouth. Not a brash Meursault by any stretch, but self-aware of its class. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.Inc. GSTSG$1,584.27 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru comes from a single 0.52-hectare parcel. It boasts a more complex bouquet than the Les Charmes-Dessus, offering an enticing mélange of crushed stone, pineapple, tangerine and yellow plum; menthol scents emerge with time. The palate is very well balanced with an oily-textured opening. There is fabulous intensity here, and very fine acidity. Citrus fruit and white peach appear toward the persistent finish. Superb.Inc. Vinous (92-94)
The 2019 Meursault Les Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a slightly richer bouquet compared to Bouzereau’s other cuvées, presenting dried honey and orange pith scents plus honeysuckle and beeswax. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious and full of energy. The vibrant citrus/lime finish fans out wonderfully and the spicy aftertaste is one of the longest I have found on this particular cuvée. Superb.Inc. GSTSG$815.10 -
Vinous (91-94)
(80% of this wine is from a 1938 planting in Perrières du Haut, the other 20% from 60-year-old vines near the Clos des Perrières ): Alluring lemon-yellow color. A touch of noble reduction to the aromas of ripe peach, pineapple, nut oils and smoky minerality. Suave, silky and utterly seamless in the mouth (this wine always displays a thicker texture, notes Bouzereau), conveying an almost oily quality to its yellow fruit flavors. The wine's acidity is a bit soft and nicely integrated. I suspect this wine will gain in shape and terroir character during its last months of élevage, as its minerality emerges.Inc. GSTSG$1,867.67 -
Vinous (91-93)
The 2018 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru comes from two parcels, 20% in Perrières-Dessus planted in 1955 and another part, 80% of the parcel, planted back in 1938. It has a very intense bouquet, like the Genevrières, featuring walnut, linseed oil and light white peach aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. As Perrières should be, this is taut, linear and powerful, with hints of fresh grapefruit, tangerine and peach appearing toward the persistent finish. A superb Perrières, but does it possess the charm of the Genevrières?Inc. GSTSG$1,413.16 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2019 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru has a tight, focused nose of gunflint and gravel, expressing this noble vineyard extremely well in the sense that it could not be from anywhere else. The palate is well balanced with touches of orange peel, ginger and light savory notes on the entry. Quite a phenolically driven Perrières, it has wonderful length, even if it does not quite have the clinical precision of, say, Dominique Lafon’s own Perrières. Still, this is a well-crafted, quite sublime Meursault.Inc. GSTSG$735.41 -

The 2018 Meursault Les Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru is one of the first parcels that Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau picks, since it is one of his most precocious holdings. Curiously, it sports a Puligny-like bouquet of wet limestone and green apple scents. The palate is taut and fresh, offering notes of orange peel, lemon peel and ginger toward the spicy, persistent finish. I suspect this will require four or five years in bottle to really show its class.Inc. GSTSG$1,458.92
