Wine Advocate (95)
Aromas of clear honey, blanched almonds and pear mingle with hints of citrus blossom and orange oil, introducing the 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, elegantly textural wine that's supple and enveloping, with lovely depth and dimension at the core, underpinned by lively acids. Long and perfumed, this is an elegant, expressive Montrachet from Fontaine-Gagnard.Inc. GSTSG$6,710.84 -
Vinous (95)
The 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru, of which there is one and a half barrels this year (actually the maximum that the domaine produces), has an intense oyster shell and flinty bouquet, touches of hazelnut and white peach developing with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a very slight reduction on the entry, lively and very concentrated with orange rind and quince towards the finish. The new oak from the half barrel is conspicuous at the moment but that will be integrated with time in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$4,777.27 -

Vinous (94)
The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru has an intense nose, quite powerful, maybe the oak a little too present at the moment. The palate is powerful too, touches of tropical fruit infusing the citrus fruit, lightly spiced with a slightly heavy finish. Very fine, but it will require time to absorb the new oak.Inc. Vinous (92-94)
There is just one barrel of 2021 Montrachet Grand Cru this year (normally there is one and a half). It has an intense bouquet, though it doesn't quite have the panache of the Bâtard-Montrachet, a hint of menthol emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a dab of stem ginger on the entry, fine depth, powerful and concentrated with an intense finish.Inc. GSTSG$1,530.26 -
Vinous (95-97)
The 2022 Montrachet Grand Cru is the only cuvée in two one-year-old barrels. I don't think it needs new oak. There is real energy and complexity here, orange pith and lemon verbena, touches of lemon curd. The palate is beautifully balanced with great depth and power, far more than the Bâtard-Montrachet. It has a beguiling length and precision, velvety smooth, with a hint of walnut on the finish. Divine.Inc. GSTSG$1,531.34 -

Outstanding Top Value. Firm reduction overshadows everything but a suggestion of petrol. Otherwise, there is excellent concentration to the relatively powerful medium weight flavors that possess unusually good size, weight and depth on the lingering finish. This isn't refined but offers impressive overall quality for its level.Inc. GSTSG$703.01 -

Pale lemon and lime in colour. The difference in bouquet compared to the village Chassagne is a slight additional muscularity in bouquet. There is finesse too for this soil. One plot 50+ years old, the other 2003. A little fresh lime at the finish after pure white fruit. Tasted: November 2021Inc. GSTSG$1,312.80 -

Mid lemon yellow. This is slightly more perfumed than its neighbour on the nose, and with a striking liveliness on the palate, an excellent balance, a very light menthol here, this will be an excellent Champgains. Tasted: November 2021Inc. GSTSG$2,233.19 -
Burghound (90-93)
(Outstanding) A cool, pure, airy and appealingly layered nose displays aromas of mostly acacia blossom and lemon-lime, along with a background hint of crushed fennel. There is excellent energy and a gorgeous texture to the medium weight flavors that flash plenty of minerality on the balanced, nicely dry and sneaky long finish that would also benefit from developing better depth.Inc. GSTSG$2,396.69 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Cask sample. Delicate citrus aroma with a hint of oak sweetness and spice. Deep, rounded, creamy but with freshness at the core. Chalky freshness, intense and full of tension on the long, dry finish.Inc. GSTSG$1,123.20 -
