Vinous (91-93)Apparently the berries were very aromatic when they entered the vat for the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel-Air 1er Cru, which includes 40% whole bunches. It has a lovely bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow scents, touches of iris flower emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and velvety-smooth in texture. There is more density here on the finish, which shows touches of spice and marmalade and fans out nicely. This should evolve well in bottle. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel-Air 1er Cru comes from vines close to the forest, leaving it vulnerable to hungry boars. At 30% whole-bunch fruit, it has an attractive bouquet with pressed rose petals and a touch of lavender infusing the red berry fruit. The medium-bodied palate offers fine-grained tannins. Quite lithe and supple, with gentle grip and a well-defined, minerally finish. Recommended. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from two parcels in Le Charlemagne, in Aloxe-Corton and En Charlemagne on the Pernand side, picked one week apart since the latter takes longer to ripen. It has an excellent bouquet of intense pressed flowers and chalk-infused citrus fruit. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, poised and pretty, revealing orange peel and touches of ginger toward the finish. Drink over the next 12–15 years. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru contains 100% whole bunch this year. I appreciate the aromatics here - well-defined, fragrant and quite floral, there offers fine mineralité and tension. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very harmonious with a bead of acidity that lends finesse and elegant towads the finish. This is clever winemaking and a successful Corton. Excellent. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2019 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru comes from just under half a hectare of vines and is matured with 35% whole bunch. It has a well-defined bouquet that is earthier than Vougeraie’s other crus, conveying a little more energy than the Premier Crus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, the stems imparting a touch of pepperiness, and the finish is quite tensile, displaying good persistence. This is an elegant Clos du Roi that should age well in bottle. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru contains 65% whole-bunch fruit. The well-defined nose features brambly black fruit, crushed stone/powdered gravel and light tobacco scents. The medium-bodied palate is linear, precise and elegant, delivering fine-grained tannins with moderate grip and a slightly conservative finish. I suspect this will ultimately turn out to be a well-crafted yet early-drinking Corton. |

Vinous (88)The 2016 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru has a rather facile, pastille-scented bouquet that misses the complexity of its peers. The palate is balanced and clean, but lacks complexity and minerality. Pleasurable but does not engage the intellect. There seems to be some whole bunch fruit here, but it does not quite gel together as well as other examples. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru was the one wine from this vineyard that performed far above my initial expectations from barrel. It has a bright and perky nose: red cherries, wild strawberry and raspberry scents with a background of limestone emerging over time. The oak is neatly assimilated here and it blossoms in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fleshy yet still with sufficient grip. This fans out nicely on the finish, which feels elegant and understated. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is promising, revealing lovely aromas of red cherries and raspberries mingled with rose petals and peonies, with little hint of the savory nuances to come. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, structurally refined but introverted, exhibiting fine balance and a precise finish. While it needs some time to round out, it clearly has fine potential. |

Wine Advocate (93)Offering up a deep bouquet of wild berries, cassis and plums mingled with grilled game, spices and woodsmoke, Domaine de la Vougeraie's 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is full-bodied, ample and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into a voluminous mid-palate that's framed by ripe acids and velvety, almost melting tannins. While some bottle age will be rewarded, this is a very accessible Clos de Vougeot that's more about amplitude and finesse than overt structure. |

The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant chewiness to the tannin, good body, more assertive in the mouth than on the nose with a chalky texture toward the finish. Good length, lean and poised but fanning out with confidence—what a sublime expression of this famous vineyard. |

Vinous (91)Medium red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of raspberry, red cherry, smoked meat and minerals. Sweet, rich, pliant wine with lovely early balance and mineral grip. A relatively round style of Clos Vougeot, especially for the year, this should offer early appeal if it doesn't go into a shell in the bottle. The yield here was a generous 40 hectoliters per hectare in 2014, according to Vincent, who noted that the estate's grand cru vineyards generally had the highest production. Vincent carried out a 10% saignée here to further concentrate the wine. |
