Vinous (92-94)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-Prieur 1er Cru, matured with 50% whole bunch, has a crisp, transparent bouquet featuring lively red cherries and raspberry fruit, touches of sous-bois and later more black currant notes. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious, with good structure/grip toward the broody finish. Needs 4–5 years in bottle, but it will be worth the wait. Superb.

Wine Advocate (93-95)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Capita is the usual blend of fruit from the premiers crus En Ergot, Corbeaux and Combottes, supplemented by a visual selection of small-berried clusters from Petite Chapelle and Clos Prieur, though Trapet notes that this may be the cuvée's swan song, as his sons are keen to vinify these parcels separately. Wafting from the glass with scents of cassis, dark berries, peonies, raw cocoa and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, with terrific concentration, lively acids and an elegantly complete profile. Concentrated but beautifully refined, it's a fabulous wine in the making.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)

5 Star Wine. Louis considers that Latricières-Chambertin is typically three degrees cooler than neighbouring Combottes. 40% whole bunch vinification. Glowing purple. A touch of reduction on the nose but a vibrant luxurious fruit nonetheless. There is a gorgeous coating of a deep dark velvet fruit with the structure behind perfectly poised, refined tannins and clean acidity. Very long. A gorgeous wine in the making. Louis feels that 2020 lost the plot of Latricières – but not at all 2021.

Vinous (93-95)

The 2020 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, which was picked around 7 September, has a vibrant nose with a mixture of red and black fruit, crushed stone (basalt?) and faint liquorice scents in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, cohesive and with great depth. There is just a touch of oak to be subsumed on the finish, so give this 4-6 years in bottle.

Vinous (96-98)

The 2019 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, which contains around 60% whole bunch, has a well-defined bouquet of ebullient dark berry fruit laced with light woodland and earthy scents. So much vigor and coiled-up energy! The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful balance, supple tannins, perfectly judged acidity and a crescendo of flavors toward the splendid, mineral-driven finish. The cooler microclimate really benefited this cuvée in 2019, and it is one of the Trapet’s finest contributions to the vintage.

Vinous (97)

The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is more subdued on the nose than Faiveley's Mazis-Chambertin: scents of baked cherry, bergamot, wild strawberry and quite pronounced sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, taut and linear. Some new oak momentarily just impedes the finish that detracts from the terroir expression, but it does cohere wonderfully in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Latricières position at the foot of the Combe Grisard means that its wines often show freshness and breeziness. That’s the case here in this fine, precise, focused red, showing floral aromas and flavours of pomegranate and orange zest. Nuanced, long and made to age, despite its lightness of touch.

Vinous (95)

The 2015 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a refined bouquet of pretty, slightly tertiary red berry fruit laced with subtle oyster shell scents. The fresh, vibrant, medium-bodied palate presents fine-grained tannin, crisp acidity and a succinct, mineral-driven, detailed finish that does this grand cru proud. Bon vin! Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Wine Advocate (90-92)

There are around 30 barrels of Trapet's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a lovely wine that mingles notes of wild berries with hints of dark chocolate, exotic spices and violets. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and lively, with powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish. This derives from eight different parcels spread throughout the appellation.

Vinous (92-94)

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin La Petite Chapelle 1er Cru, blended with 80% whole bunch, has a tightly-wound bouquet with crushed stone infusing the blackcurrant and raspberry scents, a nuanced Earl Grey scent percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, finely-chiselled tannins, very good weight with just a hint of menthol that enhances the finish.
