Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru is two-thirds whole cluster fruit. Quite closed, broody and stroppy on the nose, it does not budge when I gave my glass aeration. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, quite saline and spicy, a dash of white pepper towards the finish. Good depth, quite voluminous on the finish. Give this 4-6 years in bottle. Closure: Diam |

Vinous (90-92)Containing 50% whole cluster, the 2021 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru has a light but fresh redcurrant and raspberry nose with sous-bois and hints of Earl Grey. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, certainly lighter in style but balanced with an "airy" finish. This should be approachable after just a couple of years. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has two-thirds whole cluster fruit and matures in 40% new oak. It has a refined and quite backward bouquet that demands encouragement, light sous-bois and crushed limestone scents percolating through the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit. A firm grip in the mouth with a light oyster shell influence defining what is a very detailed and persistent finish. Very good potential here - superb. |

Vinous (87-89)Good full red. Red cherry aroma. Juicy but on the lean side, with a cool minty quality and less volume and texture than the Taillepieds. Wine Advocate (93)The 2009 Pommard Les Pezerolles is rich, round and seductive. Layers of fruit caress the palate in this enveloping, textured Burgundy. There is plenty of intensity in the glass. Hints of hard candy and licorice wrap around the finish. The Pezerolles was made with 100% destemmed fruit. Although I like the wine’s frank immediacy, I also think it will age gracefully. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. |

Vinous (92)(vinified with 50% whole clusters): Good deep red. Initially restrained nose opened somewhat with air to show aromas of redcurrant and flowers. Boasts excellent intensity and savory soil character but a bit medicinal and closed in on itself today, showing sound acidity but little easy sweetness; comes across as a bit tougher and more medicinal than the Volnay Mitans, without that wine's obvious class. But this very firmly structured wine finishes with slowly mounting persistence and surprisingly ripe, suave tannins, and should be long-lived. |

Vinous (91-93)(from the north side of Pommard above Les Grands Epenots on active limestone soil; vinified with one-third whole clusters and aged in one-third new oak): Good dark red. Tight aromas of black cherry, redcurrant and rust (there's a bit of iron in the soil here as well), lifted by a floral quality. Savory and fine-grained, with red berry flavors enlivened by saline minerality. Not a big wine but offers an attractive blend of sweet, savory and acidic elements. This minerally, salty wine finishes with big, mouth-dusting tannins. |
