Vinous (97)
The 2020 Musigny Grand Cru is intense and focused on the nose with red berry fruit, undergrowth, plenty of wilted violets coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame very pure, red berry fruit, a touch of sappiness as it fans out and deepens on the finish. There is something majestic about this Musigny, and the finish is extraordinarily long.Inc. GSTSG$2,173.00 -

Vinous - Neal Martin (96-98)
The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru underwent two pickings, August 27 for the declassified younger vines, and September 5. It has a well-defined bouquet with touches of undergrowth infusing the brambly red fruit, graphite and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, and vibrant with svelte tannins, fine acidity, and an elegant finish. This very refined Musigny will improve with bottle age.Inc. GSTSG$4,972.29 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-99)
5 Star Wine. A huge density of ruby crimson colour with a fruit that is utterly majestic and totally true to Musigny. The glorious dark raspberry fruit fills the middle palate in a way that the Amoureuses did not quite manage, and with an easily adequate structure of refined tannins. Such a velvet coating. This will stay in my mouth for as long as it takes to hurry on to my next appointment. Bravo! Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Nov 2024.Inc. GSTSG$5,904.24 -

Good medium-dark red with ruby highlights. Tight nose offers blackberry, violet, menthol and a touch of oak spice (Philippe Drouhin finds this too oaky). The palate offers good richness and breadth, with dark berry flavors showing an element of finesse. Finishes with building oak tannins.Inc. GSTSG$778.70 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Procès 1er Cru felt a little gawky on the nose when I tasted the cask sample. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant sharpness on the entry, delivering firm grip and a saline finish that lingers in the mouth. Give this a couple of years in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$795.05 -

Vinous (88-90)
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village has a tightly wound, earthy bouquet that needs to knit together a little more during the remainder of its élevage. The palate has a pleasant sharpness on the entry. There is admirable tension here, especially for a Village Cru, though the cohesive, lightly spiced finish deserves a better set of aromatics (at least at the moment). One to watch once in bottle.Inc. Burghound (93)
A ripe if highly restrained mix of red and blue fruit is liberally sprinkled with spice and floral notes. There is good volume and solid mid-palate density to the seductively delicious big-bodied flavors that are shaped by a phenolically mature tannic spine, all wrapped in a mildly rustic but highly persistent mineral-inflected finish. Note well that this muscular and robust effort is definitely going to need at least 7 to 8 years of keeping and require 15+, perhaps even slightly more.Inc. GSTSG$1,153.72 -
Vinous (91-93)
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru comes from three lieux-dits: Les Charmes, Les Petits-Monts and Aux Malconsorts. It has a very composed bouquet of ample ripe raspberry, crushed strawberry, veins of blue fruit and a touch of crushed stone. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity. A light oyster shell note pokes up toward the harmonious, velvety finish. This is going to be very seductive.Inc. GSTSG$1,142.82 -

Cask sample. Gorgeously intense purple fruit on the nose. Sweet ripe cherries. More damson on the palate, very ripe, just fresh enough, almost a little jammy but rich and generous.Inc. GSTSG$995.67 -
