Wine Advocate (92)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a tightly wound bouquet, dark plum and raspberry fruit, a touch of blackberry, the oak nicely integrated although it is staying inside its shell for the time being. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red cherry and raspberry fruit, the tannins finer than I was anticipating, the acidity well judged as it segues into a backward but focused, quite structured finish. Christophe Perrot-Minot's Beaux Monts has very good potential. Tasted September 2016.

Vinous (91-93)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a very attractive, expressive bouquet of quite precocious macerated red cherries, kirsch, orange sorbet and hints of crème de cassis, a little showy but irresistible. The silky-smooth palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, more understated than the aromatics, and the finish is very cohesive and charming. Maybe it would benefit from more length, but it feels very natural and refined at the moment.

Vinous (93-95)

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet with bunches of crushed violet filtered through the black cherry and blueberry fruit. The palate is very elegant on the entry, velvety in texture with a precocious yet controlled finish of blood orange infused dark cherry and cassis fruit. This is very harmonious and will be dangerously seductive in its youth, but it clearly has the substance to last.

The 2021 vintage is characterised by its round tannins and aromatic depth. On the nose, it delivers enchanting top-notes of red fruits, seamlessly interwoven with undercurrents of liquorice and spice. Aging in fine-grained French oak barrels has seamlessly incorporated subtle woody nuances, enhancing the robust structure and longevity of this wine.

A luxurious addition to any connoisseur's cellar, the Perdrix Vosne-Romanee 2021 showcases the quintessential character of these historic Burgundy vineyards. It offers an unparalleled wine-drinking experience that is reflective of the distinguished Perdrix savoir-faire.

Vinous (90-92)

(no new oak): Bright, dark red. Deep aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, flowers and minerals. Rich, sweet and pliant; seamless and sappy, combining lovely fat and precision. Quite suave owing to its vinosity. From the northern corner of the appellation. An excellent showing today.

In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
