Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru offers red plum, dark chocolate and light orange blossom scents on the nose, maybe just missing a little definition compared to other cuvées at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, touches of graphite and black pepper, cohesive but missing just a touch of complexity on the finish. Give it a four or five years in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)Matured in 50% new oak, the 2014 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru les Chaumes has a surfeit of energy and tension on the nose that is very precise and defined. There is lovely focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very well judged acidity and a svelte, strawberry and raspberry confit finish that lingers nicely. This is struck through with sophistication and class...a case of less equals more. |

Burghound (91-94)(from a .7 ha parcel that was partially replanted in 1985 and the remainder in 1989). Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées has a more broody and introspective bouquet compared to the 2013 Malconsorts from Bichot, although it has its own virtues, bestowed with gorgeous dark plum and cranberry scents, again a touch of dried rose petal lending a kind of femininity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red cherry and cranberry fruit, nicely structured with a fine line of acidity. There is a touch of chewiness on the finish although with age this will mellow and turn into a fine Vosne-Romanée. Tasted September 2016. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)A deep bright purple. The nose has the characteristic (of Brûlées) smoky struck flint note to it, which adds complexity to the red fruit which is as abundant here as the other wines. Lush in the middle then a structure which tames the extrovert nature, a good point of acidity alongside ripe tannins, and some darker fruit to finish. Potentially extremely fine. Drink from 2028-2035. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)(5 Star Wine) Deep ruby crimson colour. At this end of the scale the power of the fruit and the vineyard character completely outweigh the vinification. 100% new wood (Tronçais) is invisible. Instead, we find the slaty and singed character of the vineyard, plus an astonishing wealth of fruit. A thickness of texture which is extraordinary. Quite stunning this year with the blood red depth of fruit. Enough acidity behind and exceptional pure as well as concentrated. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: November 2023. |

The winemaking process remains faithful to traditional methods, using hand-harvested, organically-farmed grapes. Fermented in oak barrels to enhance complexity and depth, this wine is an authentic symbol of Burgundy excellence. With its elegant bouquet of dark fruit enlivened by earthy undertones and a subtle hint of spice, the Gros Frere et Soeur Vosne Romanee 2022 is an irresistible temptation for the discerning palate. The lingering finish is testimony to an impeccable balance. A wine that perfectly encapsulates the terroir from which it springs, it embodies bourgeois elegance and brilliance at its finest. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)Medium to dark purple. Pepper and spice up front along with some remarkably refined fruit. The intensity is compact at the front then opens out much more behind, with black raspberry becoming more apparent. The intensity is impressive for 2021 and the natural balance undeniable. Sweet fruit finish. Drink from 2028-2035. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)5 Star Wine. On arriving in Vosne-Romanée we do discover another level of elegance. A fresh but quite deep purple. An essential concentration of deep dark fruit, but this time with an absolute feeling of precision. Lifted, racy, electric, spicy with a depth of concentrated mostly raspberry fruit. We are getting there! Drink from 2026-2032. |
