The 2013 Richebourg Grand Cru is a wonderful wine. Here it has a superb, quite aristocratic bouquet with wild strawberry, crushed stone, clove and just a subtle marine tincture. It just seems to grow in stature. The palate is extremely well balanced with firm backbone, great density with a muscular, quite grippy finish. It just gives you everything you want from a Richebourg. Tasted at Goedhuis & Co.'s annual Burgundy tasting in London.Inc. GSTSG$3,058.26 -

Wine Advocate (92-94)
The 2014 Richebourg Grand Cru clearly has the best bouquet amongst the A.F. Gros range: wonderful, minerally red berry fruit, dried flowers and just a hint of warm gravel in the background. It gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannin. The acidity is very well judged and there is a creamy texture lending harmony to this Richebourg. I do think it is the most complex Richebourg I have tasted from the domaine in recent years, but it is one of the most sensual. Give it 8-10 years in bottle so that it can show what it can do.Inc. Jancis Robinson (18++)
More muscular and meaty than the Échezeaux. Darker fruits, sweet cherry depth. Redolent and yet controlled in fruit. Fleshy cherries and plums, a slight hint of integrated toast and nutmeg from oak. Despite the power the sensation is ethereal and lifted. Very fine.Inc. GSTSG$2,706.27 -

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Mazières will be the last release since the 45-year-old vines were pulled up following the harvest, since they were too degenerated. Matured in 50% new oak, it offers crisp red cherry and cranberry scents on the nose, neatly defined and focused with a hint of wet limestone in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit on the entry, a pleasing saline note running from start to finish with a gentle grip. This is a very commendable valedictory wineInc. GSTSG$3,410.39 -

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas has a lovely red cherry, strawberry and rose petal scented bouquet that displays plenty of vigour with well integrated oak. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, a little low in acidity but very pure with a caressing and quite persistent finish. This shows off the vineyard in a very positive light. Very fine.Inc. GSTSG$186.29 -

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas was a touch reduced and therefore less giving than the Les Chalandins. The stems (40% here) are neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a salty entry, very marine influenced, nicely balanced with bright blueberry and strawberry fruit on the sorbet-fresh finish. Plenty of energy - this should age with style.Inc. GSTSG$1,164.62 -

Burghound (96)
There is an all-but-invisible touch of brett present on the otherwise pretty and beautifully layered nose that features notes of various dark berries, violets and a wide range of spice elements. The gorgeously refined middle weight flavors possess a suave and silky mouth feel before culminating in a strikingly complex finish that seems to dance across the palate while delivering flat out huge length. This is still moderately firm yet with air it could easily be enjoyed now. Note that my score offers the benefit of the doubt regarding the brett as I have no other recent notes and thus I can't say whether this bottle was entirely representative.Inc. GSTSG$15,258.32 -
Vinous (95+)
Good full red. Vibrant perfume of raspberry, spices and minerals. Boasts outstanding dark berry intensity, with powerful crushed-stone minerality and a saline quality giving great energy and tension to the middle palate. Finishes with remarkable rising length, utterly suave tannins and superb lift. Like the Suchots, this is already wonderfully aromatic but is built for a decade or two of improvement in bottle.Inc. Burghound (96)
The strikingly elegant nose offers the most complexity of these 2012s with its well-layered aromas of spice, plum, violet, dark cherry and sandalwood. There is a beguilingly velvety texture to the lightly mineral-driven medium weight flavors that possess plenty of mouth coating dry extract before terminating in a firm and impeccably well-balanced finish. Note that this classy beauty will also require ample patience.Inc. GSTSG$12,729.52 -

Medium red. Raspberry, currant, plum, chocolate and espresso on the nose, with a leesy complexity. Sweet and fleshy but fresh, with good underlying mineral spine. Builds slowly on the back. A suave, subtle wine that should develop nicely in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$6,021.60 -

(just two and a half barrels made) Deep, bright red. Subdued but vibrant aromas of black raspberry, mint and bitter chocolate. Healthy dark red. Sexy, soil-driven nose melds raspberry, spices, herbs and smoky minerals. Plush, fine-grained and sweet yet somehow light on its feet; like the 2016 version, this has a very high pH around 3.9 but its savory minerality and stem element give it sufficient energy and lift. A wonderfully seamless ripe-but-dry wine with a very long, rising finish featuring refined tannins and lingering black cherry and licorice notes.Inc. GSTSG$14,865.92 -

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru comes from a tiny 0.2-ha parcel. It has a vivacious and perfumed bouquet, damp earth and black stewed tea developing with time. The palate is resplendent with raspberry and cranberry fruit, refined with edgy tannin and an exceedingly sustained finish that lasts for more than 60 seconds. The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru expresses the whole-bunch contribution as much as any other 2018 from Lachaux. It is almost Dujac-like in style, displaying fine delineation and a compelling earthy quality. The well-balanced palate is very tight at the moment, offering strict tannins and modest depth. Linear and precise, revealing hints of brown spice and cola toward the complex finish. Quite an uncompromising wine in some ways, but one that is utterly absorbing. Just two barrels made.Inc. The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru comes from an expanded parcel, the "extension" only planted (at 16,000 vines per hectare) in 2015 after being fallow for over a century. The total area is 0.1854-hectares. It has a brilliantly defined bouquet with vivid red fruit, crushed limestone and crushed rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, lithe tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit. Slightly granular in texture, hints of hoisin toward the finish with a long saline aftertaste. This squares up to the RSV and questions its superiority...it's that good.Inc. GSTSG$8,033.19 -

Red-ruby color. Deep, slightly reduced aromas of raspberry and game. Fat, sweet and layered, with a flavor of roasted plum. This has very good depth of fruit. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Seems considerably more pliant than the '98 was at a similar stage.Inc. GSTSG$4,969.09 -
(2x75cl) 2005Vinous (93)
Deep red. Smoky red and black fruit aromas are complicated by licorice and minerals. Highly concentrated, sweet and deep, with a medicinal quality to its black fruit flavors. A wonderfully seamless wine with terrific pinot sap. Finishes with superb ripe, spreading tannins. Widespread millerandage here has yielded a wine with terrific volume, but there's nothing heavy about it.Inc. GSTSG$1,302.33
