Dark fruits, pipe tobacco and pencil-shaving aromas are followed by a rich, concentrated mouthfeel that shows the introverted nature of such a low-yielding vintage. The finish is stiff and structural, lingering with assertive tannins that frame a gourmand core. This may soften a bit more with additional time in the cellar, but I suspect it's drinking about as well as it ever will and should continue on that track for some time. |
