There is a clarity to the fruit but this is all muscle and sinew at the moment. Lovely but tight and tense, so focussed with a hint of crushed stone and mint on the finish. A characterful style. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2020 Latour à Pomerol has retained a very similar bouquet to the one that I encountered from barrel with blackberry, loam and pencil box scents, perhaps one of the most Médocian noses that I have observed in this Pomerol even though paradoxically it is 100% Merlot! The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Fine build though it remains compact and linear, finally fanning out in its final third. There is a touch of chewiness just on the finish, but I feel this is developing the substance and structure for long-term ageing. |
