The 2005 La Tour Figeac is silky, gracious and so expressive. Red-toned fruit, mocha, cinnamon and flowers give the 2005 a good deal of aromatic lift to match its mid-weight personality. The finish narrows just a bit, but this is still a very pleasing, nuanced Saint-Émilion. At this point I would not push my luck too much on aging. The 2005 is a gorgeous wine that shows the more delicate side of Saint-Émilion.Inc. GSTSG$1,442.94 -

Really fabulous on the nose, with sweet milk chocolate, flowers, currant and plum. Full-bodied, with incredible length. The tannins are so silky, but they are warm and cuddly. You just want to hug it. Powerful but so attractive. The blend is one third each of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Score range: 97-100Inc. GSTSG$1,189.06 -

Made with guidance from Stéphane Derenoncourt and from a great terroir near the Saint-Emilion/Pomerol border, the 2015 Château La Tour Figeac is a classic effort that offers lots of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco, damp earth and truffle aromas and flavors. It's ripe, polished and balanced, with sweet tannin, integrated acidity, and a clean, classy feel, all of which make it a joy to drink already. Nevertheless, it should be at its best from 2020-2032. Tasted twice.Inc. GSTSG$871.83 -

The 2016 La Tour Figeac offers good fruit intensity and depth. Readers should plan on giving it a few years in bottle, as the tannins are a bit coarse today. Red cherry, plum, espresso and floral notes add complexity throughout. Even so, the tannins retain a toughness that is not likely to ever fully disappear.Inc. GSTSG$456.08 -

This is intense with tons of tar and cloves against the well-defined cassis fruits and lovely vibrant violet edging. The silky texture and legs indicate generous alcohol, but this is balanced, if on the larger side. It takes its time in the glass, at first a little overpowering, but it settles into itself and has been well handled offering good ageing potential. Medium red-ruby. Utterly captivating aromas of red fruits and iron complicated by an exotic white fruit note that reminded me of viognier. Suave and silky but not at all overly sweet, with a lovely subtle perfumed character in the mouth. Very complex and distinctive 100%-merlot wine in an elegant style. Finishes long and perfumed. This property, located between Le Pin and Trotanoy, was recently purchased by Catherine Pere-Verge, owner of Le Gay. The fruit was destemmed by hand, and the must went directly into barrel for fermentation, with Michel Rolland responsible for the winemaking.Inc. GSTSG$2,797.25 -

Medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and strikingly pure as well as multilayered, the 2008, despite its precociousness, will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 20-25 years.
