The Wine Cellar Insider (94-96)
Crushed rocks, currants, cherries, flowers, licorice, smoke, cocoa and espresso covers all the bases in the perfume. Elegant and edgy, silky, soft and mineral driven, the fruits show a beautiful purity, freshness and refinement on the palate, leaving you with salty tannins and sweet plums that continue to linger and expand in the finish. The wine is made from a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.Inc. GSTSG$398.33 -
James Suckling (93-94)

The 2020 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is perfumed and silky in the glass. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and crushed flowers lend attractive aromatic presence. This is an especially gracious style that feels a bit light, especially on the mid-palate and finish, where there is some loss of persistence.Inc. GSTSG$450.61 -
James Suckling (96-97)

79% Merlot, 21% Bouchet (Cabernet Franc). Part of the Lafleur (Pomerol) stable. Cask sample. Pretty floral-violet nose with plenty of juice on the palate. Rich but sappy with a mineral edge. Tannins long and extremely fine. Clearly GV. (JL) Drink 2025 – 2035Inc. GSTSG$269.69 -

The 2020 Grand Village Blanc has a fresh bouquet with lime, grapefruit and peach skin scents, quite pure, not complex, though seductive. The palate is well balanced with a nervy entry, lovely oily texture (which Baptiste Guinaudeau attributes to the more solar vintages) with a touch of bitter lemon, pear drop and stem ginger towards the finish. Delicious.Inc. GSTSG$434.32 -
Jeb Dunnuck (93-96)
The deep, inky-hued 2020 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse has a seriously impressive, balanced, full-bodied, structured style that's going to reward patience. Pure crème de cassis, black raspberry, graphite, lead pencil, and spring flower notes all define the bouquet, and it has plenty of background oak, a dense, chewy mid-palate, lots of tannins, and a great finish. It's going to need to be forgotten for 7-8 years but will evolve for 30 years or more.Inc. GSTSG$412.48 -

A serious, more obviously structured effort than the suave 2019, the 2020 Gruaud Larose opens in the glass with aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries mingled with subtle hints of burning embers, pencil shavings and violets framed by a deft touch of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with rich, powdery tannins and vibrant fruit flavors, it concludes with an impressively penetrating finish. The 2020 Les Champs Libres is gorgeous right out of the gate. In this vintage Les Champs Libres is quite savory and floral, with the fruit pushed into the background. Dried flowers, mint, sage, white pepper and almonds all open with some time in the glass. Like the Grand Village Blanc, Les Champs Libres comes across as a bit reticent. I love the energy and vibrancy here. Give this time in bottle.Inc. GSTSG$595.94 -
