Jeb Dunnuck (97)The 2019 Clos Saint-Martin comes from a tiny vineyard of clay and limestone soils and is mostly Merlot blended with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. This deep purple-hued beauty boasts a rocking nose of darker currants, ripe black cherries, mulberries, chocolaty oak, iron, and bloody meat. It's deep, rich, and full-bodied on the palate and has a round, voluptuous mouthfeel, flawless balance, layered tannins, and a great, great finish. A welcome addition to any connoisseur's collection, the Daugay 2019 is a testament to the expertise of its vignerons in Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux. This red Bordeaux blend, a harmonious concoction of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is born from vines that are 50 years old on average. The resulting maturity in the grapes metamorphoses into an opulent wine with refined tannins. The Daugay 2019 is adeptly crafted thanks to the fine art of traditional fermentation and consistent vinification in French oak barrels. Its enduring ageing process confers complexities of flavours, from fresh red fruits to subtle oaky notes, often garnished with a touch of spices and an earthy undertone. The Château Daugay, run by the esteemed de Boüard family, has been producing fine wines since the 19th-century. Their mastery in wine production, coupled with the region's propitious terroir, is eloquently expressed through the balanced and velvety Daugay 2019. An offering not to be overlooked by any avid wine aficionado. |

James Suckling (94-95)This is linear and tight with beautiful concentration of tannins and dark fruit, as well as tar and dark chocolate. Full, yet racy and long. Very solid and structured with tannins that integrate well into the wine. Better than the 2018. |

Wine Enthusiast (96)Barrel Sample. Famed for its white wine, this estate has produced another impressive vintage. It has great poise between lusciousness and a tight mineral texture, giving balance and longevity. Nutmeg flavors come from the wood aging. It should cellar well. |
