  • Les Remparts de Bastor-Lamontagne Blanc 2017 (6x75cl)

Distinguished by its eloquent synthesis of traditional and modern methods, the Remparts Bastor Lamontagne 2017 is a sensorial tour de force from Sauternes, France. This vintage, derived from the property of Château Bastor Lamontagne, is artfully made from a meticulous selection of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes. The harvest, affected by the noble rot, results in a characteristic rich, sweet wine with a balanced acidity.

Renowned for its golden hue and floral aroma with hints of tropical fruits, the Remparts Bastor Lamontagne 2017 resonates a harmonious rhythm of elegance and complexity. The distinct gustatory signature, marked by apricot, honey, and spice notes, substantiates its reputation as a versatile accompaniment for both classic and experimental gastronomy.

An impressive exemplar from a historic estate known for over three centuries of winemaking virtuosity, this Remparts Bastor Lamontagne 2017 clearly reflects the essence of Sauternes' terroir and the excellence in viticulture and vinification practices held by the producer.

  • Lespault-Martillac 2017 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2017 Lespault-Martillac is a gorgeous, understated wine, just as it was en primeur. Bright, floral and understated, the 2017 is impeccable from start to finish. Once again, the purity of the red-toned fruit is really compelling. The Lespault-Martillac is not obvious or overt wine, but instead it makes its case with a total sense of refinement. It is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage.

  • Lilian Ladouys 2017 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (91)

Another terrific wine from this estate, the 2017 Chateau Lilian Ladouys comes from gravelly soils in Saint-Estephe and is 50% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot aged in 40% new oak. It’s also worth pointing out that this cuvee sees malolactic fermentation in barrel as well as plenty of time on lees, which I think normally gives the wine plenty of early appeal. Beautiful notes of cassis, tobacco, leafy herbs, and damp earth all flow to a medium-bodied 2017 that shows the more elegant, straight style of the vintage. It has some firm tannins, so give bottles a handful of years.

  • Lynsolence 2017 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2017

    Jeb Dunnuck (93)

Deep inky colored, the 100% Merlot 2017 Lynsolence comes from sandy, gravelly soils and spent 18 months in new French oak. This is a ripe, modern-styled, sexy wine that's loaded with notions of creme de cassis, graphite, white chocolate, classy oak, and hints of cedar pencil. Rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and with sweet tannin, drink this sexy beast of a 2017 over the coming decade or more. Tasted twice. This cuvee comes from Denis Barraud’s 2.5-hectare vineyard in Saint-Emilion, which is mostly deep, gravelly soils not too dissimilar from what can be found in Pomerol, which might be why this wine always has a rich, opulent, Pomerol-like style. There were 650 cases of the 2017 produced and it hit 14% natural alcohol.

  • Margaux 2017 (1x600cl)
    (1x600cl) 2017

    James Suckling (99)

There is ripeness and opulence to this, in an almost exotic and sassy way. Crushed berries with chocolate and spice. Floral and cashmere undertones. This starts off slowly and just rolls off the palate with beautifully polished tannins and a salty, minerally note to the long, extended tannins. Really brilliant. So classy. Structured. Try after 2025.

  • Marquis d'Alesme 2017 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93-95)

Brought into the US exclusively by Jeffrey Davies, the 2017 Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker might just be the finest wine from this estate to date. Made from 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, aged in 65% new French oak, its deep purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of crème de cassis, black cherries, crushed violets, and cedary spice. Possessing terrific purity of fruit, medium to full body, building tannin, and a great finish, this balanced, impeccably made 2017 will need 2-4 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. It’s a gem in the vintage and readers owe it to themselves to check out this estate, which has an undeniably gorgeous terroir.
