Wine Advocate (95-96)

The tank sample of the 2018 San Lázaro, which was the final blend after some eight months in barrique, showed really well and confirmed my idea that this could be the third single-vineyard wine in quality after El Pisón and El Carretil. It's a wine of finesse and perfume, of subtleness and length but without lacking power or concentration. It has a beautiful combination of violets and cassis with very fine tannins. It has inner strength and tension, a recurring note when it comes to these 2018s. Very promising, in line with the superb 2016. They expected to fill some 2,000 bottles in the summer of 2020.

James Suckling (98)

Polished and structured with firm, very fine tannins. Lots going on here, with layers of black fruit, dried spices, graphite, coconut and cracked pepper. Full-bodied and so intense. Keeps going. Long. The tannins are so fine and so numerous. One of the greatest modern gran reservas. 85% tempranillo, 10% graciano and 5% mazuelo. Try in 2025.

The Laurenz V. Kremstal Gruner Veltliner Singing 2020 is an exquisite manifestation of Austrian winemaking. Crafted in the prestigious Kremstal region, renowned for its unique terroir, this wine showcases the splendid potential of the Gruner Veltliner grape variety. Franconian vintner, Laurenz V., a fifth-generation winemaker, produces this aromatic white wine using traditional methods. The 2020 vintage is a harmonious balance of crisp minerality, vivid citrus and hints of green apple, wrapped in a refreshing acidity. The ‘Singing’ in the title aptly illustrates the wine's lively, vibrant character. Ethically sourced and sustainably produced, Laurenz V's focus on single varietal wines ensures the authenticity of expression and character in every bottle. As such, the Laurenz V. Kremstal Gruner Veltliner Singing 2020 emerges as a classic representation of this distinctive grape, offering wine enthusiasts an immersive tasting experience that is both elegant and profound.

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (100)

I tasted this at the property from barrel, thrilled to follow it now in bottle. Grabs you from the first moments with its sage, thyme, dried flowers and incense aromatics, clings to your nostrils, drawing you in, so much depth of flavour to the vivid raspberry and sour cherry fruits, delicate and yet powerful. Hard to describe how little artifice is conveyed in the glass, it's not a wine that is coated in new oak, instead it is delicate, poised, crafted, utterly gorgeous, so moreish. Harvest October 6 to 18, 3.8ha, old gobelet vines, with any replacements coming from massal selction. Iconic winemaking partnership Telmo Rodriguez and Pablo Eguzkiza. I hope everyone folllowed my advice from the first vintage to get on board because it is more than living up to its potential, and its tiny quatities means that first come are almost certainly first served.
