James Suckling (100)
This is the greatest Cheval des Andes ever. Discrete aromas of blackberries, flowers, stone and licorice. So perfumed. The integration of fruit, tannins and acidity is fantastic. Full-bodied, tight and solid with beautiful depth and integrity. Extremely long and exciting. Complex and compelling with such refinement and length. A blend of 62% malbec and 38% cabernet sauvignon. Available in September 2020. Better after 2024.Inc. GSTSG$810.35 -
James Suckling (100)
A complex, restrained and deliciously austere cabernet franc with damp earth, oyster shells, blueberries, thyme, rosemary and mushrooms. Super serious and chalky on the palate with lots of dissolved, minerally-textured tannins. Very long and uncompromising! An incredible cabernet franc from Gualtallary by Alejandro Vigil. Extremely pure, mineral and seductive. A fabulous cabernet franc that grows on the palate with remarkable tension and texture. I’d want to drink a bottle now even it can hold extremely well.Inc. GSTSG$875.77 -
Vinous (95)
The 2020 Sémillon El Enemigo from Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo hails from a 70-year-old vineyard. Aged with flor for a year before 15 months in barrels, it’s a golden yellow in the glass. On the nose there are notes of flint, honey, a little hazelnut and cashew nut underneath the flor-based aromas of white flowers and pear. In the mouth, however, it’s broad with a good, voluminous flow and a clove backdrop. Intense and creamy with a sustained layer of salinity, the stylistic acrobatics have opened up new possibilities for the varietal.Inc. GSTSG$330.77 -
Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (95)
Beautiful jewel-like ruby colour, vibrant and expressive, this is just so moreish, with a beautiful grip that holds the sour cherry and fresh raspberry fruits in place. Gentle tannins also, with a subtle intensity. Excellent quality, this is one to shout about and share with friends. A perfect wine for the heat of summer, it has sweetness on the nose but finishes extremely dry with a refreshing signoff. Got to be the best value wine in the September Releases, and shows just what an exciting category Etna Rosso is right now. A 6.5ha estate on the northern slopes of Etna sat at 750m, winemaker Andrea Delpiano is based in Piedmont, but is in Sicily every month. A must buy.Inc. GSTSG$307.88 -
Renowned for its full-bodied and robust character, the Lagavulin Islay Single Malt 16YO NV is an emblem of Islay’s unique distillation heritage. This single malt whisky is created on the island of Islay, Scotland; an area celebrated for its peat-rich soil, which influences a distinct smokey, iodine-laced flavour profile. Matured in oak casks for 16 years, this spirit is a testament to Lagavulin's excellence in traditional whisky-making techniques. This Bottling hosts a deep, amber gold colour, brooding with the unparalleled aroma of dry peat smoke, with a trace of maritime notes and rich, smooth malt. On the palate, it offers a balance of dried fruit sweetness harmoniously intertwining with a smoky-dryness, ending in a long, glorious finish. The Lagavulin Islay Single Malt 16YO NV is truly more than just a whisky – it's an indulgence, a privilege, a rich tapestry of peat, oak and subtle sweetness.
