Esteemed brothers, Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, have carefully curated this exquisite Chardonnay in the world-renowned wine region of Burgundy, France. A combination of traditional and progressive winemaking, the brothers approach vineyard management with rigorous attention to detail, utilising organic farming practices. Precision in viticulture follows through to a keen eye in the winery; fermentations take place in 500-litre barrels and fine lees are regularly stirred to add depth and texture. The Bachelet Monnot Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere 2020 intermingles aromas of white flowers, citrus and butter. On the palate, its outstanding minerality is rounded with a generous burst of lemon freshness, carrying the hallmark regions' elegance. The Clos des Epeneaux is produced from a monopole of 5.23ha located at the juncture of Grands Epenots (20%) and Petits Epenots (80%). The clos is divided by regisseur Paul Zinetti into four main subdivisions by age of vine and underlying soils which are farmed and vinified separately. |

Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's more structured and introverted than the regular cuvée, and it will reward a bit of patience. |

Still, the warmth of the vintage comes through in the fruit with succulent blackberries and cassis. The tannins are, again, more old school with some stern grip. The focused, long finish shows a hint of oak toast with crushed slate. Just give this some time in bottle. 2025-40 |
