Vinous (92-94)The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is showing some reduction on the nose, although there is appreciable open red cherry and crushed strawberry scents on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, very well balanced, the new oak (25%) is neatly integrated. This builds in the mouth and delivers a welcome peppery note on the finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru saw some protection with candles in the vineyard during frost, though still there was partial loss. The nose opens with redcurrant and light blueberry scents, a touch of incense. The 30% stems is neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with fine grip, quite taut and linear, chalky, building towards quite a tensile finish though maybe without quite the sustain of the very best examples from this Grand Cru. Yet it is still a very capable Echézeaux that will deliver the goods for 15 to 20 years. |
