  • (Maison) Louis Jadot Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93-95)

The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru was showing a little more reduction on the nose compared to the Clos Saint-Denis, although I felt that there is more detail and complexity in situ. The palate is very refined with filigree tannin, great tension and focus, a gentle grip in the mouth with an almost tart, tensile finish that lingers in the mouth. I also appreciate the spiciness on the aftertaste. Superb.

  • (Maison) Louis Jadot Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has an outgoing, generous bouquet of sensual red cherries, crushed strawberry and veins of blueberry that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a dash of white pepper on the entry and slightly honeyed in texture toward the finish, betraying the warmth of the summer. It’s a close call but I just prefer the Clos Saint-Denis this year.

The 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a beguiling bouquet of pure dark cherry and violet aromas, quite mineral-driven and wonderfully delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine grip, and touches of graphite and white pepper toward the sustained finish. This feels cohesive and long, and it should age with style for 20–30 years.

The 2019 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru is a clear step up from the Echézeaux, offering a gorgeous marine-influenced bouquet, touches of oyster shell infusing the mixture of red and black fruit, and wonderful mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied, burly and intense with an almost "heaving" structure that grips the palate, all with utmost finesse. Fist, velvet glove, etc.... it’s all here.

The 2020 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru has a nicely-detailed bouquet: mulberry, crushed stone, rose petal and light bergamot aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, taut and fresh with a slightly chalky-textured but quite persistent finish. I admire the tension here and the length - a noble G.E.

  • (Maison) Louis Jadot Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94-95)

Representing 9 barrels, all from purchased fruit grown on the Chassagne side of the cru, Jadot’s 2006 Montrachet smells decadently of heliotrope, fading lilies, over-ripe peach, and grilled pineapple; comes to the palate predictably full and rich yet surprisingly fresh and invigorating; and lays down a plush, faintly warm, rich but not especially fine-grained carpet of flavor in the finish. While less dramatic than the Batard or mysterious than the Chevalier, this is nonetheless truly grand, and surely capable of at least a decade’s fascinating evolution.

  • (Maison) Louis Jadot Montrachet Grand Cru 2015 (3x75cl)

    Burghound (93-95)

This is all but mute today and still notably primary as only aggressive swirling can coax the reluctant aromas of pear, honey, white peach, oak and floral scents to reveal themselves. In the same fashion as the nose, the big, opulent and ultra-intense broad-shouldered flavors also remain extremely backward and tight yet the palate staining finish is hugely persistent and already offers unusually fine complexity for a young Montrachet. This too is extremely impressive but note well that it's built-to-age and is going to need at least 5 to 7 years first.

The NV Extra Brut Grand Cru Complantée emerges from a parcel in Avize interplanted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc, Arbane, Petit Meslier and Chardonnay. Exotic and beguiling in the glass, the Complantée is absolutely gorgeous. Kirsch, red plum, rose petal and spice give the wine striking aromatic intensity and lovely inner perfume. The red grapes seem especially expressive in this release. The Complantée is not an obvious wine, rather it is a Champagne of translucent finesse. The NV (2015) Brut Nature Exp. '15 is another highly intriguing release. The Exp. is a 2015 wine, all Chardonnay, from the Robards and Bionnes lieux-dits in Avize. Pascal Agrapart uses unfermented juice from the following harvest, in this case 2016 (rather than sugar), to create the secondary fermentation in bottle, also known as prise de mousse, in which still wine becomes Champagne. The Exp. '15 is done entirely without sulfur and is bottled with no dosage. It is one of the most unique and distinctive wines in Champagne. Disgorged: April, 2020.

  • Adrien Renoir Les Montants Grand Cru 2018 (6x75cl)

Epitomising vigorous finesse, the Adrien Renoir Les Montants Grand Cru 2018 delights the senses with its unparalleled richness. Nurtured in the heart of Côte des Blancs, a premier region known for creating incredible Chardonnays, this opulent vintage bears an impressive reputation. This Grand Cru, fashioned from meticulously hand-harvested grapes, ideally illustrates Adrien Renoir's expertise. An exquisite champagne, the wine seduces with its lush pear, apple pastry and candied ginger flavours.

Crafted through the traditional "méthode champenoise," it ensures fine effervescence and delicate texture. A reposing maturation period of 3 years on lees rewards it with complexity and depth. Renoir's dedication to sustainable viticulture is also manifested in this superior quality Grande Cru.

The Adrien Renoir Les Montants Grand Cru 2018 is slightly mineral in its finish – a signature of its chalky soils - offering an eloquent rage to the last sip. This is more than a drinking experience – it is a testament to France's time-honoured wine tradition.

  • Adrien Renoir Les Vignes Goisses Grand Cru 2019 (6x75cl)
  • Agrapart Complantee Extra Brut Grand Cru NV (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

This release is a blend of equal parts 2017 and 2016, vinified in neutral oak. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: April, 2020.

  • Agrapart Experience Brut Nature Grand Cru 2014 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The NV (2014) Blanc de Blancs Experience is another very beautiful and expressive Champagne from Agrapart. Silky and nuanced, the Experience is quite vinous, with a very subtle mousse and tons of freshness. Experience is a blend of fruit from Les Robards and Les Bionnes. Pascal Agrapart added unfermented 2015 juice to a base of 2014 wine for the secondary fermentation, an approach that yields a Champagne that is both unique and compelling. Non-dosé. Disgorged: July 2018.

  • Agrapart Experience Brut Nature Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Based on the 2019 vintage, but with a preponderance of reserve wines from 2018, Agrapart's NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs delivers notes of citrus oil, white flowers, freshly baked bread and hazelnuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, creamy and satiny palate that's bright, lively and chalky. Wines from Oger dominate the blend.

  • Agrapart L'Avizoise Extra Brut Grand Cru 2013 (6x75cl)

    James Suckling (96)

This has an exceptionally detailed nose with fresh crushed stones, all shades of hazelnut, lemon blossom and grapefruit, as well as dried flowers. The palate has exceptionally fresh and piercing acidity with very fresh and frisky lemons, white nectarines and grapefruit, as well as an attractive, fresh and zesty finish. So intense. Drink or hold.

  • Agrapart L'Avizoise Extra Brut Grand Cru 2014 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2014 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru L’Avizoise, from old vines in the Les Robards and Voie d'Epernay lieux-dits, is a wonderfully complex wine. Rich, ample and mineral but also intensely perfumed, the Avizoise has so much going on. Vinification in oak and aging on the cork seems to really bring out soft contours to match the wine's sculpted, translucent feel. This is an especially refined, aromatic expression of Avize, and also one of the most sublime, elegant wines I have tasted from Pascal Agrapart. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: April, 2020.
