Wine Advocate (98)Now that it's in bottle, the 2014 Cote Rotie La Turque has exceeded all of my earlier expectations. It's got those classic Côte Rôtie elements on the nose of smoked bacon, olives and violets, seamlessly entwined with supple tannins and raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky and fine, showing tremendous length and complexity on the finish. On this occasion, La Turque came to the head of the class as the most approachable, exciting and elegant of the three La Las. |

The divine Guy Amiot et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Vv Rouge 2019 is elaborated through the authentic French savoir-faire. This cherished wine originates from the celebrated vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet in the heart of Burgundy, France. Possessing four generations of wine mastery, Guy Amiot, along with his son, Thierry Amiot, craft wines that are emblematic of their terroir with a precise balance of tradition and innovation. This remarkable wine, cultivated with diligence in 2019, exhibits an exquisite harmony of ripe, dark fruits and rich, spicy undertones, whilst maintaining an enticing, vibrant acidity. Burgundy’s limestone-rich soils contribute to the unmistakable minerality in this sophisticated wine. The grapes are meticulously harvested by hand to ensure only peak quality. True to Burgundian style, this wine matures in oak barrels, a detail that imparts a complex aroma and lush palate. Favourably reviewed in trusted wine publications, the Guy Amiot et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Vv Rouge 2019 is a testament to artisanal winemaking. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (97)The 2019 Hosanna is fabulous, just as it was from barrel. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2019 possesses off the charts fruit intensity. As always Hosanna leans towards the dark side of black/blue fruit. An exotic mélange of tar, gravel, licorice, incense and spice builds in the glass, filling out the layers effortlessly. Soft contours give Hosanna its allure, but I would not be in any rush here. The balance of opulent fruit and structure makes for a super-compelling Pomerol. |

Full-bodied, rich, super firm and built like a brick house, the palate offers layer upon layer of very tightly wound, subtly nuanced flavors leading to a very long, very perfumed and minerally finish. Burghound (91-93)(Sweet spot Outstanding) Here the wood is no longer subtle though neither is it invasive on the ripe and layered aromas of violet, plum, earth and discreet sauvage nuances. The middle weight flavors are not as concentrated but they're finer still thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins supporting the markedly firm and youthfully austere finale. This is clearly built-to-age and will need at least a decade to fully resolve the structure. Worth checking out. |

Decanter (97)Best in Show - Those seeking out reds based on Cabernet Franc beyond their French home are, often enough, looking for a red wine which combines something of the structure and command of Cabernet Sauvignon but with more lift, grace and aromatic refinement. The red wine from this year's brace of South African Best In Show winners fills that role admirably. It's dark in colour, with refined, complex, raspberry and root-spice aromas in subtle and uninsistent style. Look out for bright, pure raspberry fruits on the palate with a further twist of liquorice and gentian. The structure comes more from the wine's quiet, limpid acidity than from any notable tannin presence, further unscoring that accessibility and responsiveness. |

It's a brilliant second wine, offering loads of ripe blackcurrants and blueberry fruits intermixed with Asian spice, chocolate, and dried flowers. Jeb Dunnuck (100)An utterly brilliant Pomerol and the finest wine from this estate to date, surpassing even the 2016, the 2019 Château La Conseillante checks in as 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc and was raised in 70% new French oak. A wine of incredible finesse, purity, and precision, its deep purple hue is following by an incredible array of blueberries, crème de cassis, spring flowers, damp earth, and violets. Flawlessly balanced, full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, it has a beautiful mid-palate, ultra-fine, utterly seamless tannins, and a heavenly finish. It doesn't have the sheer density or outright power of some of the other top Pomerols, but as I wrote in the barrel sample review, no one marries elegance with opulence as well as Conseillante. This magical Pomerol will take a decade to hit full maturity and will evolve for 30 years or more. This is haute couture at its absolute pinnacle, and as I wrote in the barrel review, hats off to Marielle Cazaux for producing one of the top wines of the vintage. |

Jeb Dunnuck (100)The 2019 Château La Mission Haut-Brion is Merlot-dominated, checking in as 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's a more opulent wine compared to Haut-Brion, and the Merlot is front and center here, with ripe, sexy black cherry and redcurrant fruits as well as licorice, scorched earth, cedar pencil, and graphite aromas and flavors. Rich, exuberant, and straight up sexy on the palate, it's full-bodied, has a deep, layered mid-palate, building tannins, and a heavenly finish. Just a prodigious, powerful, off-the-charts expression of this terroir, it actually reminds me slightly of the 2005 (or 1998?) with its mix of sexiness and opulence. This is one of the few 2019s that will make your eyes roll back in your head. It will need 10-15 years of cellaring, but it’s a sensational wine on every level and will have 40+ years of prime drinking. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97-100)Magic stuff all the way, and certainly up there with the heavenly 2015 and 2016, the 2019 La Mondotte comes from a 12-acre vineyard of limestone (and some clay) soils located just above Pavie Decesse. It offers everything you could want in a Saint-Emilion with its rich, opulent texture, notable minerality, terrific balance, and an incredible sense of elegance, in both its texture and its tannins. Offering powerful notes of black cherries, blackcurrants, smoked earth, tobacco, chocolate, cedar, and violets, it has plenty of tannins, yet they're perfectly ripe and integrated. It's full-bodied, flawlessly balanced, and just a joy to taste today, yet it's going to benefit from 5-6 years of bottle age and keep for three decades. |

Tim Atkin MW (94)La Rioja Alta is one of the most traditional wineries in Haro’s Barrio de la Estación, famous for producing wines that are good to drink on release, but also age beautifully in bottle. This new Gran Reserva, made from Tempranillo with 6% Graciano for added backbone, is very much a reflection of the cooler, more “Atlantic” 2014 vintage. La Rioja Alta didn’t make its top two Gran Reservas – 904 and 890 – in 2014, so all of its best grapes were used for Viña Arana. Fine and elegant, with vibrant acidity, notes of coconut and cinnamon from the American oak and a core of savoury, refreshing tobacco leaf and red berry flavours framed by fine, caressing tannins. Old-fashioned Rioja at its glorious best. |

Vinous (94+)La Spinetta's 2014 Barbaresco Vigneto Valeirano is a dark, brooding wine. Because of its depth and overall structure, the oak element is less evident here than it is in some of the other wines. Smoke, licorice, tar, spice, black cherry and rose petal gradually emerge from a wall of firm, imposing tannins. Readers will have to be patient with the 2014, but it is a striking wine in the making. As is often the case, the Valeirano has a distinctive element of austerity and nerve. |

Jancis Robinson (18)Sweet, spicy nose. Very intense. Great polished tannins. Super-serious and bone dry. Tastes like essence of a wood-panelled room, somehow. (And I don’t mean wood panelling with TCA as in Middle Temple.) Very much for the patient. |

Christian Eedes (95)55% Chenin Blanc, 18% Chardonnay, 16% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Viognier and 1% Roussanne. Expressive aromatics of flowers, herbs, citrus and peach plus a slight nuttiness while the palate shows good fruit expression and tangy acidity – plenty of detail, the finish long and dry. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94-97)The 2014 L'Eglise Clinet is a real head-turner. Gorgeous, super-expressive aromatics meld into a core of dark, sumptuous fruit. Lavender, mint, violets, graphite and crème de cassis notes abound in a powerful, structured wine endowed with magnificent purity and a skyscraper-like sense of lift. Finesse and power collide in a crystalline Pomerol of exceptional beauty. Powerful and dense to the core, the 2014 is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. |

James Suckling (97-98)Lots of black-olive, crushed-berry and wet-earth aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet polished with a very fine, velvety texture from the tannins. It’s long and structured with a blue-fruit and stone undertone to the palate. Some sage, too. More balanced than in the past. Extremely persistent on the palate. 83.5% merlot, 16% cabernet franc and 0.5% cabernet sauvignon. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96)The second wine of this great estate, the 2019 La Chapelle De La Mission Haut-Brion checks in as 50% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's a brilliant second wine, offering loads of ripe blackcurrants and blueberry fruits intermixed with Asian spice, chocolate, and dried flowers. It packs some muscle as well and has a rounded, opulent texture, full body, ripe tannins, and a great finish. You'd be excused for thinking this was another estate grand vin. |
