Vinous (93)
(13.5% alcohol; from east/southeast-facing vines with some tempering influence from the nearby woods): Bright full red. Complex, expressive scents of wild strawberry, raspberry, dried flowers, spices and earth. Dense, saline and sweet, with its strawberry, underbrush and smoky mineral flavors giving it surprising early seductiveness, but this wine has the concentration and backbone to evolve slowly. Very long and flavorful on the aftertaste.Inc. GSTSG$1,584.27 -

Slightly deeper and richer, with more blackcurrant fruits as well as tobacco, lead pencil, spice box, graphite, and dried flower-like nuances, the 2018 Malbec Farrow Ranch is a beauty, hitting the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, multi-dimensional texture, building tannins, and a stunning finish that carries remarkable minerality as well as freshness. Malbec doesn't get any better, and this magical wine will evolve for 20 years or more. It’s the finest Malbec I’ve ever tasted and hats off to winemaker Jesse Katz.Inc. GSTSG$4,021.88 -

Wine Advocate (97+)
The 2016 Chardonnay Upper Barn Vineyard comes from the oldest vines on the estate, planted in 1982. Fermented in barrel and aged for 11 months in 47% new French oak, it is a little closed to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal pink grapefruit, white peaches and Granny Smith apples with nuances of honeysuckle, lemon tart and praline. Medium to full-bodied, it explodes in the mouth with citrus and savory layers, with a gorgeous silkiness and loads of ginger and mineral sparks coming through on the finish. Wow! 813 cases produced.Inc. GSTSG$1,041.43 -

The 2011 Corton Rognet Grand Cru has a more reticent nose with subtle marine scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins on the entry. This is a tertiary Corton with attractive damp earthy and moss accents that inform the composed understated finish. Drink now-2020.Inc. GSTSG$1,148.27
