(a blend of eight vineyards): Bright medium red. Very dark aromas of black cherry, blackberry, licorice, herbs and spices. A juicy, youthfully tight midweight with a firm spine of dusty tannins and sneaky persistence. (Incidentally, the 2014 Bourgogne Rouge showed sexy red fruit flavors in a round, juicy style and should offer early pleasure. )Inc. GSTSG$5,453.23 -

Subtle and complex aromas of roses, rose stems and meat. Highly perfumed. Extremely pretty, subtle fruit, yet a solid core of tannins holding it all together. All of these wines from Cavallotto deliver a very floral and perfumed subtext that gives lift and delicate buoyancy to the overall bouquet. This is the Castiglione Falletto magic that shows so well in this classic vintage. The 2016 Barolo Bricco Boschis offers dried cherry, sandalwood, bramble and forest floor. The wine reveals a slightly wild and untamed character that adds to its interest and personality. Overall, this is an elegant wine with a streamlined and elegant finish. The aromas are focused and bright. I can't wait to taste the Riserva expression from this site when it is released in three years' time.Inc. GSTSG$1,479.59 -

A combination of an extraordinary vintage and a fantastic producer are behind this stunning wine. It opens with aromas recalling woodland berry, pipe tobacco, forest floor, balsamic notes of camphor and new leather. Still youthfully austere, the firmly structured palate delivers ripe Morello cherry, licorice, ground clove and iron notes set against tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it well balancedInc. GSTSG$1,915.59 -

Incredible, reserved ripeness and depth already evident on the nose after one whiff, offering plum, cedar, rose hip, sandalwood, and licorice. Full-bodied with superb depth of fruit and an abundance of polished tannins that give the wine poise and grace, even though it’s long and powerful. The quality of the tannins are exceptional. Sheer and refined. This comes from the center of Cannubi. Aged five years in Stockinger cask. Better after 2026.Inc. GSTSG$784.47 -

There is slightly more structure to the 2015 Barolo Ginestra Casa Maté than to the Gavarini Chiniera of the same vintage, and the only differences here are the soils and that this fruit is harvested about ten days later. It's a pretty fascinating demonstration of the power of the single vineyard. The Gavarini Chiniera parcel offers slightly sandier soils, whereas this site is composed of more clay. In rainy years, the Gavarini Chiniera vineyard drains more effectively, whereas the Ginestra's soil retains more moisture in the hot and dry vintages. As a result, in vintages such as this one, Ginestra shows a more compact nature and, in general, provides more impact and more structure. This is a very robust expression, extremely linear and tight. The Ginestra Casa Maté narrowly wins this round. It's another beautiful Barolo.Inc. GSTSG$738.39 -

Elio Sandri's 2017 Barolo Perno is fabulous. More than anything else, I am struck by the wine's freshness and energy, both of which are hard to find in this torrid, dry year. Crushed flowers, raspberry, mint, cinnamon and blood orange lend notable energy and tension throughout. This is an absolutely stunning wine by any measure. The only thing it needs is time. Production is down about 20% because of severe selection.Inc. GSTSG$691.54 -
Discover the stunning Elio Sandri Barolo Perno Riserva 2016. Produced in the esteemed Piedmont region of Italy, this majestic wine is the creation of wine master Elio Sandri, whose passion, rigorous selection of vines, and respect for tradition have resulted in an exquisite product. This Barolo highlights the Nebbiolo grape variety's splendour, grown in marl-rich soils, patiently aged for thirty-six months in Slavonian oak barrels. The result is an outstanding complexity of flavour, exhibiting notes of forest berries, leather, licorice and truffle. The 2016 vintage expresses noteworthy intensity and elegance. It embodies opulence, boldly displaying a deep ruby red hue, rich tannins, and impressively balanced acidity. The finish is unforgettably long, leaving a warm, pleasing aftertaste. Experience the artistry and mastery encapsulated in the Elio Sandri Barolo Perno Riserva 2016, a timeless testament to the grandeur of Italian viticulture. The Enzo Boglietti 2016 Barolo Arione draws its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, from a vineyard site that has gained much attention in recent years. Arione has thick silty soils and these contribute to the gentle finesse and floral perfumes of the wine. Don't forget power. There is plenty of muscle flexing in this brawny, determined Nebbiolo with firm tannins and deep structure. A mere 2,000 bottles were produced. Count on this wine to complete a long and rewarding drinking arc.Inc. GSTSG$771.09 -

The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is bright and effusive, as wines from this site tend do be. Crushed flowers, spice, new leather and macerated cherry are some of the notes that soar from the glass. This is the classic Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria, made with a blend of fruit from various sites in Verduno. (From the 2017 vintage forward, the new name "del Comune di Verduno" will reflect its origins.) The 2016 Barolo opens to tight elegance and a nervous quality that pits red fruit energy over lean fruit weight. The results are graceful, lithe, fragile and lasting. The wine's aromas unfolded slowly and seductively, revealing wild berry, cassis, bitter cherry, toasted almond and blue flower. This is a dreamy wine that promises more beauty as it continues its bottle evolution. An ample 20,000 bottles were produced. This is one of the very best values found anywhere in Barolo.Inc. The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet, iris and incense notes dominating at the moment, slightly at the expense of terroir expression. Medium red. Cool, subtly herbal scents of raspberry, licorice, black pepper and leather, plus a hint of medicinal menthol. Rocche Rivera is a 2.5-hectare parcel inside the Scarrone cru located in Castiglione Falletto with sandy calcareous soils. The celebrated Rocche di Castiglione is located adjacent, and the Pira cru is directly above. Rocche Rivera enjoys an ideal position in one of the best-performing areas of the appellation in this classic vintage. The Figli Luigi Oddero 2016 Barolo Rocche Rivera is stunning, with a level of harmony and purity that makes an immediate and lasting impact. The wine shows pristine fruit aromas backed by wild rose, tar, ash and blood orange. Those aromas hang in perfect balance. The wine is firmly compact and solid in terms of mouthfeel, requiring a few extra years of cellar time to fully unwind. This beautiful 6,000-bottle release will hit the market in October 2020.Inc. For all who criticized the 2014 vintage across the board, this is a great counterpoint. Opening with enticing scents of new leather, rose, camphor and perfumed berry, it's a textbook Serralunga Barolo. The chiseled palate is radiant, delivering juicy Marasca cherry, spiced cranberry and licorice while firm, fine-grained tannins provide taut support. Bright acidity keeps it racy, focused and balanced. It beautifully proves that even in challenging vintages, great producers can make great wines.Inc. GSTSG$1,542.83 -
Winery note: The Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges are divided into sections. Damodes is positioned on the north side of the village immediately above Boudots (which sits adjacent to possibly Burgundies greatest premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts) and on the border with Vosne-Romanée The vineyard is on the upper slope with well-draining soil. The wines, whilst clearly made in the style of Nuits-Saint-Georges, show an influence from Vosne-Romanée next door. Notable floral notes and black fruit flavours.Inc. GSTSG$1,582.11

Not particularly backward in the context of this collection. In BondSG$850.00 -

This beautiful 6,000-bottle release will hit the market in October 2020.In BondSG$1,700.00 -

It beautifully proves that even in challenging vintages, great producers can make great wines. In BondSG$1,360.00 -
Winery note: The Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges are divided into sections. Notable floral notes and black fruit flavours. In BondSG$1,400.00

Showcasing the expertise of two celebrated winemakers, Pascal Marchand and Moray Tawse, the Marchand & Tawse Nuits-Saint-George Longecourts 2018 is an exquisite testament to Burgundy's terroir. Prodigiously crafted in the renowned Nuits-Saint-George region, the nuances of this vintage evoke a sense of place as no other.
The duo's commitment to biodynamic farming practices ensures the purity and uniqueness of their wines. Handpicked from the 'Longecourts' plot, the Pinot Noir grapes undergo careful vinification, with indigenous yeasts fostering natural fermentation. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, the resultant wine exhibits slight smoky hints underpinning a bright, red fruit profile.
The Marchand & Tawse Nuits-Saint-George Longecourts 2018 is an eloquent representation of the pair's reverence for tradition, interlaced with innovative techniques. Each sip invites connoisseurs to appreciate the sublime complexity - a harmonious blend of characteristic minerality, velvety textures, and persistent finish.

Hailing from one of the most celebrated vineyards in the entire denomination, this focused beauty boasts layers of complexity and depth, starting with its classic Nebbiolo aromas of forest floor, new leather, violet and wild berry. Balanced and firmly structured, the palate shows tension, power and elegance, delivering succulent Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, tobacco and licorice alongside firm, aristocratic tannins. It's still young but already beautifully balanced, with bright acidity. In BondSG$1,210.00 -

Showing the precision and purity of the celebrated Bussia MGA (in Monforte d'Alba), the Oddero 2016 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca has a lifted and largely floral bouquet with pressed rose, spicy potpourri, licorice, cinnamon stick, rosemary sprig and a hint of lavender. The intensity and the purity of the bouquet is beautiful, and although the oak tones play a prominent role at this stage, they will certainly integrate within the elegant, mid-weight texture of this Barolo. The wine ages in 30-hectoliter Austrian oak casks for 30 months. Production is 3,300 bottles. In BondSG$1,800.00
