A burst of red Sangiovese fruit opens first, followed by hints of blood orange, cinnamon, spice, dried flowers and mocha develop later. Time in the glass brings out striking dimensions. In 2020, Tignanello is wonderfully sleek and racy, with fine tannins that lie below a core of bright, sculpted fruit. The balance here is just sublime. I can't wait to revisit the 2020 with age. "We are gradually increasing the Cabernet Franc in Tignanello to balance the greater richness that today's warmer seasons are giving to our Sangioveses," Antinori CEO Renzo Cotarella told me. |

Wine Advocate (93)This is a terrific value proposition. The 2019 Le Cupole is a blend of 47% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. The first vintage was made in 1995, and although these four varieties have been used in the blend since the beginning, the various percentages change according to vintage conditions. This long 2019 growing season was a little more challenging for the late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The wine delivers plenty of rich concentration and ripeness, but there is also a pureness to the fruit that happily underscores its cheerful and informal personality. |

Better in 2018 but a fabulous young wine to taste now. A modern example of the legendary 1997 but more elegant. |
