Indulge in the exquisite experience of sipping the Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin 2017, a remarkable expression of fine French winemaking. Indulge in the sophisticated flavours of Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin 2020, an eminent reflection of the well-acclaimed Burgundy wine region. This masterpiece Hibred from the limestone-rich soils of Gevrey-Chambertin, France, pays homage to winemaker Philippe Pacalet's commitment to 'natural' wine-making techniques, devoid of pesticides or added yeasts. His meticulous vinification process, which includes hand-picking grapes and minimal sulfites, results in a full-bodied wine blooming with dark fruit flavours, robust tannins, and an ethereal finish. Notes of cherry, raspberry, and violets elegantly punctuate its structure, giving it a complex, multifaceted portfolio. Traditionality meets modernity as the Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin 2020 ages in old Burgundian oak barrels, reinforcing its rich, earthy character. This wine truly exemplifies Pacalet's artisan approach to viniculture and his profound respect for nature's providence. Pair it with your preferred game or matured cheese for an incomparable gastronomic experience. |

Wine Advocate (95-97)The 2013 Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, from vines planted in 1905, has an inviting, delineated bouquet with vibrant wild strawberry, raspberry preserve and mineral notes. The palate has great tension – so suave and poised with superb symmetry and an effortless finish that I don’t think the Clos Saint Denis has at the moment. Laurent Ponsot did not disguise his enthusiasm for this Grand Cru and I could understand why. |

Burghound (97)A brooding and almost grumpy nose only grudgingly gives up its aromas of poached plum, warm earth, smoked game and once again, plenty of spice nuances. The velvety and opulent big-bodied flavors brim with an abundance of dry extract that imparts a seductive mid-palate mouth but also serves to buffer the remarkably firm tannic spine shaping the powerful and hugely long finish where the only nit is a suggestion of warmth. This is a fantastic but seriously imposing wine with the structure to match so this is one to buy and forget you own it. In a word, brilliant. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2013 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, touches of mulberry and briary. It is a relatively conservative Griotte compared to others tasted from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth. A little fuller than the Charmes-Chambertin '13 with fine backbone, this feels chewier, but with plenty of substance on the finish. This is a gutsy Griotte, but it will mellow by the time it is bottled. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots has a sensual bouquet with creme de cassis and crushed violet aromas—just very Suchots. Maybe it would benefit from a little more Pinoté, but it conveys the vintage and vineyard in assured, exuberant fashion. |

Vinous (91)The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts-Doix 1er Cru has an extremely pure and sensual bouquet with perfumed red cherries, crushed strawberry and vanillary scents from the new oak that needs a few more months to be fully subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity. It is not the most complex Chambolle-Musigny, but it feels approachable and flatters the senses. Enjoy over the next 12 years. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. |

Wine Advocate (93+)Deriving from Vaulorent, Billaud's 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourchaumes mingles notes of citrus oil and green apple with hints of beeswax and pastry cream in an inviting bouquet. Vinous (95)The 2015 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a ripe, ostentatious bouquet of bold, well-defined black cherry, fig jam, peppermint and mineral scents; the oak neatly is folded into the fruit but certainly extroverted. Wine Advocate (96)Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Chambertin Grand Cru from J L Trapet showed some stem addition on the nose, although there is sufficient fruit to support and absorb it over time. Indeed, with aeration it gains more harmony and the whole bunch influence seems to recede. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a superb thread of acidity, grippy in the mouth with a tightly wound, quite firm and masculine finish and a hint of tobacco on the aftertaste.
