Vinous (95-97)The 2020 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is beautiful on the nose with harmonious, very pure dark cherries, violet and peony, blackcurrants and touches of rosemary. You could just inhale this all day. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, fine acidity, taut and fresh with just the right amount of spice towards the finish. So much energy here, this will be difficult to resist in its youth. |

Wine Advocate (97)I'm increasingly convinced that Pierre Larmandier produced Champagne's wines of the vintage this year, and the 2011 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vieille Vigne du Levant only compounds that suspicion. Unfurling in the glass with a deep and complex nose of citrus zest, crisp yellow apples, smoke, warm bread, mandarin oil and oyster shell, it's full-bodied and fleshy but incisive, with huge concentration, bright acids and a long, intensely saline finish. Totally transcending the reputation of 2011, it has many of the textural properties of a great white Burgundy, married with the cut and chalky grip of Champagne's Côte de Blancs. |

Burghound (89-92)A moderately toasty nose reflects notes of cassis, wild red currant and soft floral wisps. Vinous (92-94)(from vines in both Charmes and Mazoyères): Dark red-ruby. Inviting aromas of raspberry, minerals, smoked meat and dried rose, along with a cool licorice note. Juicy, intense wine with excellent definition and lovely inner-mouth floral lift. Still a bit youthfully medicinal but already conveys an attractive texture and a harmony of elements. Finishes juicy, spicy and quite long, with suave, fine-grained tannins and a repeating suggestion of medicinal reserve. Saouma was not the only producer I visited this fall who noted that Charmes-Chambertin has benefited substantially from global warming. Not too long ago, Charmes typically had a greenness as well as underripe tannins, he said. (I will withhold early judgment on a 350-liter barrel of Griottes-Chambertin, which was fusel and extremely reduced, and still had some unconverted malic acidity.) |

Wine Advocate (94+)The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru wafts from the glass with a deep bouquet of smoked meats, cassis, blackberries, incense and rich soil tones. Vinous (93-95)(the crop level here was barely 15 hectoliters per hectare, according to Saouma): Full, bright ruby. Higher-toned and considerably more expressive on the nose than the Echézeaux, offering aromas of black raspberry, licorice and violet along with suggestions of more exotic ripeness. Densely packed and seriously concentrated, but a bit youthfully imploded owing to its crushed-rock minerality; conveys a strong impression of dry extract but little early sweetness. As young as this wine is, it's much more harmonious today than the Echézeaux. Finishes very long, with serious but fine-grained tannins. |

Renowned for its exquisite finesse and robust allure, the Poisot Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru 2010 is the embodiment of exceptional winemaking. Crafted in the revered vineyards of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy, France, this red wine demonstrates a celebrated union of Pinot Noir grapes' vibrant character and the climatic idiosyncrasies of its terroir. Wine producer Rémi Poisot, a fourth-generation vintner, meticulously cultivates these grapes in a 0.48-hectare plot that holds unique geological complexities. Advanced viticultural practices with organic farming principles and manual harvest contribute significantly to the distinguished elegance of the Poisot Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru 2010. An intricate ageing process in oak barrels further amplifies its sophisticated profile, offering aromatic hints of red cherries, spice, and earthy minerals. On the palate, it reveals a profound depth with a stunning balance of acidity and tannins, cementing its place as an exquisite treasure amongst the world's finest wines. |

James Suckling (98)Be prepared to be amazed! Staggering nose of ripe pineapple, Amalfi lemon, honeysuckle and mystery. Enormously powerful and concentrated with breathtaking drive, this heads off into space like a star ship. Such razor-sharp mineral acidity, yet also staggering, textural complexity at the incredibly long finish with its cornucopia of citrusy aromas. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. |

James Suckling (98)This dry riesling masterpiece is full of seeming contradictions that give it a sense of mystery you very rarely find. So rich and concentrated, yet also astonishingly vivid and precise, the aromas range from smoke to roses, although the most obvious note is the peachy one up front. Breathtakingly long and complete finish with so much mineral complexity. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. |
