At Cru World Wine, we understand that bottle condition is crucial when it comes to purchasing wine, especially when buying back vintage wines. That's why we've created our "Selection with Condition Photos" page - a curated selection of wines that includes detailed photos of each bottle, so you can make an informed decision before making a purchase. Our photos show the condition of the bottle, including any signs of wear or damage, giving you the confidence to make an informed purchase decision.

Wine Advocate (84)The personality of Lafite comes through in the 1984 vintage. An elegant bouquet of herbaceous, cedary fruit is first class. New oak dominates the palate and some hard tannins exhibit a dryness at the finish. The 1984 is a light but well-balanced wine. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/88. |

Vinous (88)(12.5% alcohol; 16-1/2 days of skin contact): Dark medium red. Musky aromas of plum and leather. Boasts good energy and vinosity but only moderate flavor development, with the currant and leather flavors showing a strong green pepper element that suggests the vines were picked too early. Interestingly, Geneviève Janssens noted that through the '80s, the vineyard manager at Mondavi selected the date of the harvest and typically picked early. Since then, however, the winemakers have spent much more time in the vineyards and have been responsible for harvesting decisions. |

Wine Advocate (80)During the decade of the eighties, Mouton was the hottest first-growth in Pauillac. The 1984, which is almost 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, will be one of the longest-lived wines of this vintage. The wine is full bodied, tannic, concentrated, and rich in extract. It should have a surprisingly long life. This is a considerable surprise in a generally poor vintage. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 3/90. |

Wine Advocate (87)The 1984 Petrus has turned out to be amazingly good. Deep in color, with an intense, jammy, herbaceous bouquet, medium to full body, fine length, and plenty of tannin, this wine needs 2-3 years to mature, but will keep for 10-12 years. It is very impressive for the vintage. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 11/90. |
