  • Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 (2x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (19)

Fermented in 350-litre oak. The Puligny side of the grand cru. Two 350-litre casks. Less than last year because one part was not so good and they sold the fruit. The only wine of which there is less 2018 than 2017. 80-year-old vines. Picked 27 August! Bâtard likes dry warm summers. Barrel sample. Very slight hint of smoky reduction but nowhere near struck match. Both chalky and intensely citrus-fruited. Majestic and creamy. Another wine packed with fruit and richness. Deep and so tightly shaped by the freshness. Perfectly balanced. Fragrant and intense. Majestic already and will become more so. That gingery spice on the finish.

  • Pontet Canet 2018 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

The 2018 Pontet-Canet is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It was aged in 55% oak barriques and 45% amphorae. Deep garnet-purple colored, it explodes from the glass with an atomic perfume of raspberry pie, blackcurrant pastilles, rose oil and Chinese five spice, giving way to suggestions of cinnamon stick, dusty soil, pencil lead and underbrush. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is a hedonist's dream, delivering layer-upon-layer of black and red berry preserves with loads of fragrant accents, a beautifully firm yet plush texture and tons of freshness, finishing long with a whole firework display of exotic spices. This is pretty much out-of-the-gate delicious, but it has the backbone to evolve over three decades or more.

(Outstanding) A slightly fresher nose also reflects elusive suggestions of the exotic on the aromas that also display hints of citrus confit, white flower and whiffs of dried herbs. There is better vibrancy and detail as well as more obvious minerality on the medium-bodied flavors that are better-balanced, more persistent and markedly more complex. This is lovely and a wine that should reward 8 to 10 years of cellaring yet one that should be approachable after only 4 to 5 years.

  • Ramonet Montrachet Grand Cru 2018 (1x150cl)

    Burghound (97)

Even with air the nose remains exceptionally restrained and even aggressive swirling barely reveals the highly spiced aromas of white peach, pear, just sliced fennel, jasmine tea and, like the Chevalier, a touch of mintiness along with the barest nuance of wood. There is fine though not massive density to the refined yet powerful and muscular larger-scaled flavors that possess almost painful intensity on the bone-dry, clean and taut finish that is seriously long because just as it seems to be dying away, it suddenly returns. In the category of a nit, there is noticeable warmth even if it's not really enough to impair the overall sense of balance. As one would expect from one of the most storied wines in all of Burgundy, this sports serious upside development potential which I would peg at between 12 and 15 years for the 2018 version of the Ramonet Montrachet.

  • Sassicaia 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97+)

This is a classic vintage of an Italian icon now celebrating its 50th vintage. The Tenuta San Guido 2018 Bolgheri Sassicaia lays out a familiar blueprint that borrows from the proven track record of this landmark estate that extends into the hills just beyond the Tyrrhenian shores of Tuscany. This vintage is crystalline and pure in its delivery, and if you are familiar with previous editions, it is impossible to mistake this wine for anything but Sassicaia. The growing season started off cool and wet but turned to warm and dry conditions comfortably before the harvest. Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc in a supporting role deliver a graceful mid-weight texture that holds back style-wise in terms of phenolic density. The wine's careful balance is achieved thanks to the nuanced character of the fruit, the present acidity, the well-managed structure and the contained alcohol. The palate is lifted and bright, the finish is polished and long, and the wine skips over any heaviness on the mid-palate. The bouquet is especially intriguing with a very lively plummy fruit element that is enhanced by baker's chocolate, pepper spice, iron ore, caramel and pie crust. There is also a green character that adds positively to the bouquet with aniseed, tea leaf, soya, menthol rub and black olive. The fruit maturity is spot-on with no elements that feel over or underripe. Overall, the 2018 Sassicaia weighs in with a svelte frame and long persistence. Moreover, it is distinguished by the archetypal elegance and pedigree of the classic vintages of the past. This new release gives you much pleasure to await.

  • Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard 2018 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (97)

Deep magenta. Highly perfumed dark berry, violet, smoky mineral and olive aromas show superb clarity and a touch of spiciness. Offers sweet, palate-staining blackberry, cherry-cola, succulent herb and floral pastille flavors that deepen slowly and take on a licorice nuance with aeration. Rich but lively as well, finishing with emphatic back-end cut, building tannins and impressively persistent floral, mineral and exotic spice notes.

  • Tortochot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Champeaux 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90)

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet with red cherry, crushed strawberry and light sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, juicy and generous with blood orange and a smear of marmalade towards the finish that perhaps does not quite deliver the complexity promised by the aromatics. Otherwise, this is a fine Champeaux.

  • Tortochot Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91)

The 2018 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a high-toned, showy bouquet with red plum, raspberry coulis and orange rind scents, a touch of Indian ink emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity with a muscular finish that will hopefully muster more finesse with time.

  • Valandraud 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (97+)

The 2018 Valandraud is every bit as compelling as it was from barrel, maybe more. Power and vertical, with tons of explosive energy, the 2018 dazzles right out of the gate. Inky dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and chocolate all race across the palate. The 2018 is a wine of tremendous stature that distinguishes itself in a vintage peppered with stunning wines. I would allow for a few years in bottle to help the tannins soften. I loved it.

  • Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2018 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (93-95)

The 2018 Chablis La Forest 1er Cru is a big step up in all dimensions from the preceding 1ers in the cellar. Powerful, rich and also intensely mineral, the Forest is so vivid and so inviting. All the signatures of this site as interpreted by Vincent Dauvissat are ampled up in large-scaled Chablis endowed with tremendous personality and class. In a word: superb.

  • Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru 'Les Clos' 2018 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (95-97)

The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is simply magnificent. In this vintage, all the Clos signatures are kicked up a few notches. Readers will find a dramatic Chablis of grand, sweeping proportions. Lemon confit, white pepper, mint and dried flowers build as this flamboyant, exotic Chablis shows off its curves. The 2018 is simply magnificent. There is not much more I can say than that.
