Our photos show the condition of the bottle, including any signs of wear or damage, giving you the confidence to make an informed purchase decision.

Vinous (91)A dark, rich wine, the 1985 La Romanée opens with a rich, soy-infused mélange of aromas and flavors to match its demi-glace-like richness. Brown spices, licorice and worn-in leather add further shades of nuance. The 1985 is fully mature and exquisite, especially in the way layer after layer unfolds in the glass. This is a very beautiful, mature Burgundy that has reached its peak. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)This magnificent wine offers a medium-to-dark ruby color and an extraordinary nose of perfume, violets, and a myriad of red fruits. I was blown away by this wine's combination of precision, femininity, focus, and jammy, candied cherries. Traces of sweet, vanilla-infused oak grace this wine's complex and concentrated, yet lace-like flavor profile. Medium-to-full-bodied and silky-textured, this wine also possesses a long, soft, gorgeous finish that leaves the taster yearning for more. Finally, a La Romanee worthy of its name! Bravo! to Henriot, Hervet, and Prost for bringing Bouchard to such a high level of quality. |

Vinous (91-94)Full red-ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, violet face powder, mint and spices. Densely packed and tight, with dynamic flavors of dark berries, minerals, violet and licorice. Finishes very long and very fine, sweetened by new oak and lifted by floral perfume. |

Vinous (96+)Saturated, dark ruby-red. Multidimensional nose reads like a textbook of Burgundy: black raspberry, blackberry, smoked meat, underbrush, game and minerals. Incredibly sweet, pure flavors of wild dark berries, given almost painful cut by pungent minerality and brisk acidity. The explosive, mounting finish stains the tongue with flavor, leaving behind a vibrating perfume. These vines run north-south, which no doubt helped this 2005 maintain exceptional vibrancy for the vintage. Likely to be a cellar treasure. |

Burghound (95)An exceptionally fresh and bright nose is complex, refined and sophisticated still as it just exudes class and breed with a fantastically broad array of spicy and pure cool red and black fruit aromas. The spice elements are also reflected by the minerally, serious and delicious medium full-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract on the moderately firm finish that is supported by buried tannins and huge length that doesn't stop. In the realm of being extremely picky there is a hint of backend warmth present but it's not enough to seriously affect the balance. Great stuff that is very much still on the way up yet it's not so backward that it could not be enjoyed now if decanted for 30 minutes or so first. Tasted several times in the last few years with consistent results. |

Vinous (96-98)The 2019 La Romanée Grand Cru has a predictably exquisite bouquet of beguiling delineation, featuring macerated red cherries, crushed violet, incense and a touch of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, quite lush tannins that frame the pure black and blue fruit. There is gentle build in the mouth, and it fans out gloriously toward the cashmere finish. Crystalline. |
