Vinous (89-91)(25% new oak): Palish bright medium red. Nose dominated by musky, rocky, smoky calcaire. A step up in silkiness, sweetness and depth from the village Morey but a bit reduced, displaying very good intensity to its flavors of redcurrant, tobacco, spices and saline minerality. Finishes with very good spine and length, with a lingering note of dried flowers. This wine comes from vines on very poor subsoil below Clos de la Roche; Stehly notes that it is always strict when young and poor in color. |

Vinous (93)The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of dark berry fruit, desiccated orange peel and a little rooibos. The new oak is quite prominent and feels a bit reduced. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, grippy and muscular, perhaps missing some elegance and transparency. The firm finish leaves a spicy aftertaste. Give this three to four years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots has turned out brilliantly, bursting from the glass with aromas of cassis, black plums and cherries mingled with hints of spices, orange rind and violets. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids, ripe tannins and a generous core of fruit, it confirms that Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg performed especially well in the 2018 vintage. |

Vinous (93)The 1989 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet with lovely floral/incense and iris aromas that combine beautifully with the black cherry and boysenberry scents, a little iodine emerging later. The palate is very well balanced with good depth, again quite floral in style with supple tannin. Maybe it lacks the elegance of the 2002 Les Amoureuses but it feels velvety smooth and offers just perfect salinity on the finish that makes you coming back for another sip. For me, this outflanks the 1989 Bonnes-Mares. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Roumier dinner in Hong Kong. |

Vinous (88)The 1994 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is an odd wine in what I feel was not Christophe's finest year. It has a strange exotic nose whilst the palate is rustic and meaty, fully matured with an uncharacteristically coarse finish that does not really translate the quality of the vineyard. Drink bottles soon. Tasted at a private lunch in London. |

Vinous (87)Rather odd aromas of pepper, herbs, asparagus and horseradish. Then full, layered and sweet in the mouth, but with an intrusive vegetal quality hiding the site character. Tannins are nicely ripe. Roumier had to use commercial yeast skins to finish a stuck fermentation. He admits that the yeasts brought a foreign flavor to the wine, and he fined and coarsely filtered it prior to bottling. Still, he believes this Amoureuses will be better for time in bottle. We shall see. |

Vinous (93)The 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is a vintage that I have not encountered previously. There is certainly fine intensity on the nose with raspberry and Morello cherry scents, appearing later crushed stone and rose petal notes. That Amoureuses sensuality really comes through. The palate is smooth and velvety with fine tannins. It is not the most complex Les Amoureuses that Christophe Roumier has ever produced, but certainly one of the most drinkable (however banal that reads.) Wonderful, though I would be inclined to drink it in the near future. Tasted at Xmas lunch at Trinity restaurant. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92-94)(vinified with almost 50% whole clusters) Good deep red. Captivating, high-pitched aromas of dark berries, blood orange, violet, spices and minerals. Juicy, classic and penetrating, with superb cut and floral perfume in the middle palate. Boasts compelling subtle sweetness and clarity, and finishes with a serious spine of tannins and acids. A very serious young wine, very much in the style of a mini-Musigny. Should be a beauty. |

Tim Atkin MW (99)Should this vineyard be a Grand Cru? Who knows, but it's always served last by Christophe Roumier when one visits the domaine. It's a site that combines heat and freshness to perfection. Crunchy, fresh and refined, the resulting wine is feminine and elegant with notes of fresh raspberries and red cherry, subtle oak and a spicy, savoury undertone. Wonderfully subtle winemaking from a brilliant vigneron. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (97)5-Star Wine. A darker purple colour. Some new oak present gives a slightly lactic veneer. Then the fruit takes over – there is a lot of it, with an underlay of discreet whole bunches. My first thought was that the fruit could have been picked a touch earlier, but the development of the wine soon changed my thinking. The bouquet is really growing now. What a wealth of fruit, more red than black. This is becoming extremely good, because here all the weight is at the back of the palate. Drink from 2028. |

Wine Advocate (93-94)The 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras smells of ripe blackberry, raspberry, forest floor and chalk dust. A polished, creamy, yet palpably chalky and brightly fresh-fruited palate offers a sumptuous saturation of black and red fruits with inner-mouth aromatic accents of cherry pit, pistachio, flowers and citrus zest. Red berry fruit is laced with morels, pressed rose petals, leather and incense, quite complex and involving. The palate is medium-bodied with commendable depth considering the season. Pure red fruit with wonderful piquancy, hints of white pepper and clove lead towards quite a weighty and compelling finish. Jancis Robinson (17.5)1.75 ha (4.3 acres). Higher vineyard than most, facing south-east but cool air comes down the combe. Terres blanches, ie limestone-rich marl. Low-vigour vines here. Theirs were planted 1931, some replanted 2002. 60% whole bunch, 25% new oak. Barrel sample. Deep crimson. Fabulous nose of ripe red fruit with the perfume of peony. Perhaps also a touch of lavender from the whole bunch. Wild flowers and still so much fruit. Much tighter and more strict than Les Combottes, the tannins more upright and less smooth but still very very fine. More stony. 14.2% but you would not know. And that mineral freshness and energy is outstanding even if the wine is less approachable than some. Rich in fruit, mouth-watering in texture and that minerality gives a tight frame to the fruit. |

Wine Advocate (90-91)Like the rest of the wines here at the time I tasted, Roumier’s 2005 Morey St. Denis Clos de la Bussiere had been sulfured and racked in autumn after a very late malo and was in barrel awaiting imminent assemblage in tank for (unfiltered) bottling. It was slightly reduced but responded well to a good shaking, displaying subtle black fruits, high-toned almond and maraschino, roasted meatiness, resin, and forest floor notes on the nose. It fills the mouth with roasted meat richness, bitter-sweet black fruits, high-toned distilled fruit esters, and finishes with solidity, grip, and savory saltiness. |

Burghound (92)I have never been a huge fan of this wine as I often find it to be somewhat coarse, and while always very good, I am rarely moved by it. However, in 2010, as was the case in 2009, this is much better than it usually is with a relatively perfumed nose that includes notes of earth along with the natural sauvage character of the vineyard. In fact there is even a certain elegance to the attractively layered airy and cool red berry liqueur aromas. There is good richness and fine volume to the moderately robust and muscular flavors that culminate in a balanced and linear finish that evidences mild austerity. I quite like this as the tannins are finer than usual and there is a real sense of harmony and completeness. |

Vinous (92+)Roumier's 2011 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de La Bussière is terrific. Dark plum and cherry notes meld into cloves, menthol and spices in a layered wine dripping with class. Veins of underlying minerality give the 2011 much of its energy and tension. Although Christophe Roumier's wines have become objects of desire for Burgundy lovers all over the world, the Clos de La Bussière remains the most under-appreciated of his wines, mostly because it is often much less charming young than the Chambolles. Readers who can cellar the 2011 are in for a real treat. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière, which contains 50% whole bunch fruit, has a clean and precise, almost pixelated bouquet with blackberry, briary and cold limestone scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite structured in the mouth with filigree and tensile tannin. This is very focused, linear in style, which is surprising given the warmth during the growing season, with great clarity on the finish. This is just a fantastic Morey-Saint-Denis from Christophe Roumier. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has an almost flinty bouquet with delicate wilted rose petal scents that gradually unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, the 65% whole bunch barely detectable. Very cohesive, fine tannins, very saline towards the finish with shucked oyster shell, one of this limestone-rich vineyard’s signature notes. Sculpted with a fine chisel on the finish. Excellent. |
