Trapet Pere et Fils
About Trape Père et Fils
The Domaine was founded by Louis Trapet in 1870, who hailed from Southeastern France and chose to settle in Gevrey-Chambertin during the French Revolution. He gradually acquired prime vineyards in the appellation and by the 1920s, had become one of Burgundy’s most important vineyard owners. Fruit from their vineyards was regularly sold to top négociants such as Leroy, Drouhin and Liger-Belair and the Domaine only bottled their first wine with the 1959 vintage.
In 1990, the Domaine underwent a split, with Domaine Rossignol-Trapet managed by Nicolas and David Rossignol while the original Domaine became known as Domaine Trapet Père et Fils, currently managed by the fifth generation of the family, Jean-Louis Trapet.

A huge wine for the year, Trapet's 2011 Chambertin graces the palate with dark blue/purplish fruit, violets, cloves and savory herbs. Even with all of its intensity, the 2011 is a deceptively mid-weight Chambertin with fabulous balance and class. It should drink well relatively early.Inc. GSTSG$4,510.92 -

Trapet's 2011 Chapelle-Chambertin is a model of precision and elegance. Sweet tobacco, incense, orange peel and wild flowers all lift from the glass. There is plenty of underlying fruit and structure to fill out the wine's classic-feeling frame. The Chapelle finishes with fabulous freshness and energy. This is a terrific showing. Chapelle is the warmest of Trapet's three Grand Cru sites. The 2011 is a beauty. I won't be surprised if it ages gracefully for many years.Inc. GSTSG$2,110.76
