Weingut Prager
About Weingut Prager
A staunch defender in maintaining winemaking traditions, Weingut Prager has been helmed by Franz Prager's son-in-law, Toni Bodenstein, since the early 1990s and his scholarly terroir-driven approach, passion for biodiversity and brilliant winemaking has elevated Prager to the upper echelons of Austrian wine.
Producing world-class Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from their vineyards on the slopes of the Danube, Bodenstein swapped all vinification to stainless-steel tanks and this combined with his non-interventionist method creates wines with the utmost precision and elegance, moderate levels of alcohol and clear expression of their place of origin.

James Suckling (95)An extremely subtle gruner veltliner with so much herbal complexity and mountain freshness. Ripe and racy, with so much mineral energy. Very long and precise finish that's neatly supported by the very fine tannins. From a high-altitude vineyard planted in 1979 with more than 100 clones. Drink or hold. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5+)Warm, spicy nose with salami notes too. Quite complex and certainly rewarding. Powerful but with a tight pinch on the palate on the end – much tauter than the Zwerithaler Kammergut. Really rather magnificent! This is a hugely complex Grüner that should continue to develop even more. A white wine for red meat? |

Vinous (91)Aromas of melon, peach and pineapple are brightened by flint and mandarin zest. Intensely flavored and quite rich, but nonetheless firmly mineral on the palate. Vibrant acidity amplifies the wine's texture and flavors. Finishes with persistent lime. |
