The 2016 Nuit St Georges Les Murgers des Cras is a blend of 20% Les Murgers, 20% Les Cras and 60% La Richmoine. I appreciate the energy of the aromatics here, the scents springing from the glass to offer bright Morello cherry and crushed strawberry scents, the mineralité neatly interwoven. More brooding and dark on the nose than the village Chambolle, offering aromas of cherry, black raspberry and bitter chocolate. Dense, ripe and silky-smooth in the mouth, but still with excellent acidity and floral, spicy lift to its black fruit flavors. A step up in intensity from the village Morey, offering a seamless texture and also brisk minerality to its flavors of sappy red berries and spices. Still a bit youthfully clenched but the spicy, subtly palate-staining features lovely stony mineral grip. The 2016 Charmes Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a generous bouquet with perfumed red cherries, crushed strawberry and cranberry scents laced with Chinese five spice and crushed flower petal aromas. I appreciate the focus and elegance here. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe red berry fruit, extremely well balanced and restrained (not unlike Denis Bachelet's that I tasted in my prior visit). There is plenty of tension here, and there is a satisfying salinité on the finish that lingers long after the wine has been swallowed. The 2016 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru clearly is the most intense of Christophe's 2016s on the nose with ebullient scents of black cherries, bilberry, slightly overripe Satsumas and rose petal aromas. It takes a while to get going, but it is worth persisting with. The palate is very harmonious with supple tannin, a silver bead of acidity that winds its way through the layers of pure red fruit and it fans out with a glorious mineral-rich, lightly spiced finish. The mouth is tingling afterward for 30 to 45 seconds. Superb—this is a strong follow-up to the 2015 and may even surpass it.Inc. GSTSG$1,882.60 -

‘Outstanding’ A pretty, cool and airy nose is comprised by aromas of maraschino cherry laced with both earth and a plethora of floral elements. The sleek, intense and wonderfully mineral-driven middle weight flavors possess an almost pungent salinity on the bitter cherry-inflected finish that flashes superb length.
