Louis Jadot
About Maison Louis Jadot
A legendary name in Burgundy with which every collector will be intimately familiar, Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by the eponymous Louis Henry Denis Jadot, although the family had roots as grape growers in the region dating back far further than this.
Purchased by the Kopf family after the death of the last male members of the Jadot family, the Maison currently owns over 60 hectares of vines itself whilst purchasing fruit from select growers to supplement their holdings. In Jacques Lardière, this mighty winery has one of the most experienced and highly respected winemakers in the entire region, having held the position through the transition of ownership since 1970!
A true pioneer of low intervention viticulture and winemaking, Lardière believes the terroir of his sites is the single most beautiful tool at his disposal. It is the soil and sunlight of Burgundy which transposes the wines of Maison Louis Jadot, conveying a sense of time and place in the greatest of Burgundian fashions.

Wine Advocate (93-95)
There are eight barrels of the excellent 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot), an impressive wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, pear, pastry cream and honeycomb. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and satiny, with more concentration and cut than this year's Bienvenues, with an elegant sense of completeness and a long, lively finish. This will be well worth seeking out.Inc. GSTSG$3,851.47 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
Mid yellow in colour. The nose hints at majesty while keeping its powder dry. This takes time to build on the palate, it is more in yellow fruit than most of the Jadot wines, with a little sucrosity, and still the lemon citrus inflection which makes these 2020 whites work so well, and the expected length. Tasted: November 2021Inc. GSTSG$1,639.26 -

The 2015 Morgon Côte du Py is a deep, brooding wine, unfurling in the glass with notes of spicy dark fruits, baking chocolate and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, super concentrated and powerful, with lovely acids, fine-grained tannins and a rich but vibrant finish. While it's atypically imposing and large-scaled, it's a very persuasive rendition of the balmy, dry 2015 vintage, and it looks likely to handsomely repay cellaring.Inc. GSTSG$474.59 -

The 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin has turned out especially well this year, wafting from the glass with notes of dark berry fruit, cherry preserve, warm spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with melting tannins and an ample core of succulent fruit, it's seamless and sensual, deriving from parcels located near Champ de Cour this year.Inc. Open and pleasant nose showing pretty floral and ripe red berry fruit along with spicy oak. The palate is elegant and juicy with red apple, beetroot and dried cranberry flavours, crunchy, ripe tannins and a chalky undertone. Very fine, tasty and well handled.Inc. GSTSG$550.95 -

There are some 3,500 cases of the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Célébration (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless wine evocative of smoky berries, spices and licorice, framed by creamy new oak. More polished and elegant than the muscular 2018, the last rendition of this bottling (which blends more than a dozen of Beaune's premiers crus), it will offer a broad drinking window.Inc. GSTSG$436.44 -
Decanter (95)
The Bonnes-Mares is an excellent, cellar worthy wine this year, opening in the glass with a bouquet of cherries, wild berries, currant leaf, coffee and gamebird. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with excellent depth, rich but chalky tannins, and good energy through the long, penetrating finish. This is firmly structured but has the dimension and amplitude to carry it.Inc. GSTSG$857.73 -
Vinous (95-97)
The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is armed with precocious black cherries, cassis, crushed violets and a touch of iodine on the nose, aromatics that have no intention of holding back. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, wonderful precision and sense of energy. Almost playful toward the very pure, sensual, vivid finish. This is a superb "BM" from Louis Jadot and it should offer 30-plus years of pleasure.Inc. GSTSG$888.61 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet of violet-infused black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, extremely elegant and refined and gaining intensity with every swirl of the glass. The medium-bodied palate features mint-chocolate-tinged black fruit. The oak is quite conspicuous at the moment and occludes the terroir profile toward the finish. Give it a few years to meld together so the palate matches the breeding of the aromatics.Inc. GSTSG$769.44 -
Vinous (92)
Full medium red. Medicinal cherry and oak aromas are energized by minerals and pungent blood orange. Very primary and sharply delineated, with bitter cherry and saline mineral flavors complemented by an exotic floral character. Juicy, tightly wound and serious but already conveying strong personality.Inc. GSTSG$1,357.53 -
Vinous (88)
Bright medium red. Reticent aromas of cherry, redcurrant, pepper and licorice. A supple if somewhat brooding village wine with strong herb and licorice notes to go with its cherry and dark berry fruit flavors. A step up from the Marsannay in mid-palate stuffing, with the wine's dusty tannins more successfully buffered on the back end. A bit more finishing sweetness here as well, along with good grip.Inc.
